Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

CAC Contest: Psychic Pokemon

surfingpika:
Celebi:
Name: 5 points. Nothing to say.
HP: 5 points. Appropriate.
Weakness/Resistance: 6 points. Not bad, but since this is supposed to be a (P)-type card, a Weakness/Resistance combo based on its other type make little sense.
Retreat Cost: 4 points. Seems a little high to me, but you explained it well enough that it makes sense.
Pokemon Power: 7 points. Capitalization errors galore, and you didn't account for the scenario that the damage doesn't come from a Pokemon at all. Of course, I can only think of one time that that's the case...
Attack: 6 points. Interesting, but lots of capitalization errors and vague wording.
Rarity: 5 points. Good choice. Although, considering the picture, I don't know what would be holo, but still.
Picture: 5 points. Vivid, and it connects to the card's abilities.
Explanations: 10 points. Very detailed and thorough.
Strategy: 7 points. No specifics on cards to use it with, but a good general description.
Total score: 60 points.

Entry score: 60 points.
A very interesting card. Nice seeing you again, surfingpika.

TheDeuce:
Eevee:
Name: 5 points. Hard to mess up.
HP: 5 points. Good choice.
Weakness/Resistance: 10 points. Not bad.
Retreat Cost: 5 points. Makes sense.
Attack 1: 6 points. This attack's too weak to be so complicated!
Attack 2: 8 points. Good, but some capitalization errors and wording mistakes. Also, it's a little undercosted, IMO.
Rarity: 3 points. Common makes some sense, but I think uncommon would make more sense.
Picture: 5 points. A very interesting image.
Explanations: 6 points. The Weakness and Resistance can be considered typical, but the Rarity and Retreat Cost should have been better explained than that.
Strategy: 4 points. You gave some strategy info, but no combos. I can think of at least one.
Total score: 57 points.

Espeon:
Name: 5 points. Good.
HP: 3 points. Not broken, but a little high for such a powerful card. I'd have gone for 70.
Weakness/Resistance: 10 points. Not bad choices.
Retreat Cost: 4 points. Makes a lot of sense, but I think 1 might have made more sense as a balancing factor.
Pokemon Power: 9 points. Capitalization errors, and the current wording is a little broken if you get more than one out -- it would allow you to attach more than one Energy to a Pokemon that lost one. That's easily fixed, though.
Attack: 12 points. A few punctuation mistakes (you put 2 commas where periods should have been), and it does a little too much damage for its cost and effect. Making it do 30 or cost (P)(P)(P) would have been fine, though.
Rarity: 5 points. For Energy restoration AND deck manipulation? It better be Rare-Holo!
Picture: 5 points. Interesting, vivid, and connected.
Explanations: 6 points. That kind of explanation just won't cut it!
Strategy: 10 points. Good examples, and there's plenty more where they came from! I can think of a few more combos that make this card pretty close to broken!
Total score: 69 points.

Entry score: 63 points.
Very creative! Just be a little more careful next time -- and I hope there is a next time.

Tonu:
Mew:
Name: 5 points. 5 points for three letters -- good investment! /jk
HP: 3 points. Too high.
Weakness/Resistance: 10 points. Right on target.
Retreat Cost: 5 points. Good choice.
Attack 1: 12 points. One punctuation mistake, and Psychic's base damage wouldn't become 30. It would become 30+.
Attack 2: 13 points. One capitalization mistake and one spelling/grammar mistake. Otherwise, good, classic attack.
Rarity: 3 points. This one's good, but not good enough to be a Rare Holo. I think it should be rare.
Picture: 5 points. I would love to see this picture!
Explanations: 10 points. Good explanations.
Strategy: 8 points. Resistance Gym is a good call, but why is this Mew any better with Focus Band and healing cards than all other Mews?
Total score: 74 points.

Entry score: 74 points.
Very well done! Just a few small mistakes kept you from taking the lead!

Larvitarium:
Sabrina's Mew:
Name: 5 points. Very clever!
HP: 1 point. WAY too high!
Weakness/Resistance: 10 points. Good!
Retreat Cost: 1 point. Again, WAY too high!
Pokemon Power: 6 points. A good idea for a Power, but way off in wording. Plus, you didn't even say when it triggers. That is required text.
Attack: 7 points. Many wording, spelling, punctuation and capitalization mistakes. The way I interpret it, a better wording would have been, "If Sabrina's Mew used Psy Chain last turn, and did not Knock Out the Defending Pokemon, this attack does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon."
Rarity: 3 points. As written, it would have to be an Ultra-Rare! If the HP, Retreat Cost, Power, and attack were fixed, though, it would be best off as a Rare-Holo.
Picture: 2 points. Appropriate, but not very vivid or descriptive.
Explanations: 1 point. You only gave one explanation, and it wasn't even very good!
Strategy: 0 points. No combos, no strategy. Just intention.
Total score: 36 points.

Entry score: 36 points.
Better luck next time. You have a lot of good ideas, but be careful.

Finally, the judging is coming to an end!
Mr_Fuji:
Eevee:
Name: 5 points. Good.
HP: 4 points. I dunno, this one almost looks like it should be 30, but it's too hard to call.
Weakness/Resistance: 8 points. Good choices, but remember that these days, Fighting-weak Colorless Pokemon tend to have no Resistance.
Retreat Cost: 5 points. Balanced.
Pokemon Power: 9 points. Wording's off, and it's borderline broken.
Attack: 14 points. Well chosen cost, damage and effect, but what can end the effect, and what happens if the Power triggers successfully?
Rarity: 4 points. Another hard one -- that Power makes it seem like it might need to be Rare.
Picture: 5 points. I'd love to see that one!
Explanations: 10 points. Very good!
Strategy: 9 points. Good strategy section! But you didn't really give combos, and I did think of one combo you didn't -- MTM 01. A one-Energy attack, usable by Colorless Pokemon, and it still triggers the Power. That's a real tricky one, though, so I only took off one point.
Total score: 73 points.

Espeon:
Name: 5 points. What's there to say?
HP: 3 points. Pokemon that use attacks and/or Powers to move them to the bench tend to have lower HP, so 60 would have made sense.
Weakness/Resistance: 10 points. Easy, huh?
Retreat Cost: 5 points. Good choice.
Pokemon Power: 12 points. You made capitalization mistakes -- that's it. The Power itself is very nice, and balanced.
Attack: 13 points. One capitalization error, and it's VERY slightly overpowered for its cost and effects.
Rarity: 5 points. I debated for a moment if this one was really powerful enough to be a holo, then decided it is.
Picture: 5 points. Sounds like you're already prepared to make a fake!
Explanations: 10 points. Not sureI appreciate the attitude, but considering the time constraints and the effort you went to, I completely understand. Wouldn't have counted off for that anyway. They're short explanations, but they are complete.
Strategy: 5 points. Not bad, but no specific combos, other than by allusion.
Total score: 73 points.

Entry score: 73 points.
