Call Energy vs. Collector in DialgaChomp

Um, I don't even PLAY Dchomp. I play Luxchomp a bit, but for fun.

If you want to use Calls in every SP deck then by all means go for it.

I just think that they're not mandatory. Yuta proved this to us, along with many other Japanese players. I think I read somewhere that Erik Nance didn't use any at Nats.

@Cheta

Yuta won worlds. With no Calls.

Heck, if I would have said 4 Collectors, that would equal the amount of basic searchers in Yuta's deck. And Yuta won Worlds, without using Calls.

EDIT: Roseanne's was "another consistency card" that Yuta ran. I call PONTs consistencty cards; but you may not.

You said 3 collector.
you said PONT was a consistency card that could replace collector 4.
No call IS acceptable in certain decks.
I never said it was not.
No call is somewhat acceptable in Dialgachomp.
3 collector and no call is acceptable in NOTHING

Um, PONT IS a consistency card.

3 Collector/0 Call is acceptable in plenty of decks. Sablock, Beedrill G, Luxchomp, Gyarados, heck, even Dchomp.

The WC decided to cut call for other resources. He used more Roseanne's and PONT. I think PONT is a consistency card; it lets you get out of bad situations.

True statement in bold.

PONT isn't a consistency card.

A consistency card will either directly help a deck to get fully set up (by searching Basics, evos etc) or it will provide constant draw (like Claydol used to do).

Just because a card can be helpful, doesn't make it a consistency card.

Uxie is burst draw, not consistency

PONT is shuffle draw, not consistency.

They are both one-shot deals that will get you a random selection of cards. Randomness is not consistency. Do Uxie and PONT always get you what you need? No. Do Call, Bebe, and Collector? Yep.

Um, PONT IS a consistency card.no

Sablock, no
Luxchomp,no
Gyarados,no
heck, even Dchomp.no

Consistency usually refers to ones ability to CONSISTENTLY set up the vital portions of a deck.
PONT does not help you get set up (T1-2), it helps you waste you your turns supporter, and decrease you hand size (usually)

Sabelocks playing 3 collector are subpar
Luxchomps playing less than 4 collector are HORRIBLE, especially with NO CALL ENERY (equally bad)
Gyara playing less than 4 collector and no call are subpar
Dialgachomp playing 3 collector and no call are almost as retarded as luxchomp with less than 4 collector/call energy

OK...

Well then if you want to ditch Call for other consistency cards, you could run stuff like a 4th Collector, a 3rd SP Radar, Communications, etc.

I've never even seen a Sablock with calls.
Luxchomp w/o Calls won worlds; it used 2 Collecters/2 Rosy's. Still, there's plenty of good lists that run no calls/3 Collectors; though 4 isn't bad
I've never seen calls in Gyarados
Dchomp space is really tight, so if you CAN fit in Calls, then go for it. Otherwise, you should be getting stuff like Warp Energy amount, Spray amount, Egains, Ebelts, etc.

By those standards, Claydol GE wasn't a consistency card, yet it made decks playable. Anything drawing you cards can contribute to consistency, IMO. If something is getting you closer or gets you the card you need aside from the random topdeck, I'd fit that in with consistency. The ability to get rid of the cards in your hand to increase the chances of hitting the card(s) in drawing a new 6 is still 6 cards more likely than you had to begin with once you shuffle.

Pretty much what I'm saying. PONT, while not the most reliable card, obviously helped Yuta with consistency.

Well, technically yes. But isn't that what Uxie is? What Claydol was?

When people said "You need consistency, add in Claydol", no one said "well technically, you may draw into bad topdecks so I'd just run Call instead". It is a consistency card; so is Uxie and PONT.

No sane person ever had to debate whether to add Claydol OR call, its not a one or the other thing, its a both thing.

I was using Call as an example. You can substitute it for Bebe's, Rosy's, Collector's, or whatever.

The point is if Claydol, a card that blindly drew you cards, was considered a consistency card, then why not PONT?

Man, I've been looking at the wrong Sabelock lists... I don't think I've seen more than 2 or 3 Collectors in them.
