Can Rainbow be React?

The text on Rainbow Energy says that it provides every type of energy but has no effect other than providing energy, so the question is, can Rainbow Energy be a React Energy and still have all the effects of a regular React Energy?

"Type" is synonymous to "color" in Rainbow's case. It can be the colorless part of React, but can't copy React's actual name or effect(if it had any)

In theory yes...But when you look at ALL the cards that react gives effects to...it says React Energy Card..So it provides a React Energy...But it would just be providing (C)

A Rainbow energy card is always called a Rainbow energy card

A React energy card is always called a React energy card.

React and Rainbow are their names.

So can a Rainbow energy card ever be a React energy card? No because the card cannot change its name. Is there an energy type called 'React'? No again, it says on the React energy card that it provides {colorless}

A Rainbow energy card is always called a Rainbow energy card

A Metal energy card is always called a Metal energy card.

Metal and Rainbow are their names.

Can a Rainbow be a Metal? Yes.

Rainbow copies what the energy provides, not the energy itself.

Look at the energy symbol.
Metal has a distinct symbol.
React has a colorless symbol.
That is the energy type: colorless.

But when rainbow is metal, it doesnt have the effect of a metal energy card (reducing 10 damage), so rainbow can be a react energy, but only provides coloress, not the effect

Like I already said, Rainbow copies what the energy provides, not the energy itself. Metal energy provides one Metal/Steel energy unit... the effect don't have anything to do with what it provides unless specified.

And for the record, it provides only one energy at a time. Not energy type, one energy unit. It provides every type 24/7, but only one energy that is every type.

even if rainbow did manage to be a react energy it still doesnt get the effect from react energy same with dark and steel energies.

See, this is an important point. React has no effect. All it has is one unit of colorless energy and it's name. Rainbow provides the energy unit but does not provide the name.
There is no effect to copy or not copy.

Rainbow is every type - GRWLPFMDC.

A unit of Metal Energy doesn't reduce damage by 10, the card Metal Energy does. Rainbow Energy doesn't count as every type of Energy card, it counts as every type of Energy. So therefore Rainbow Energy doesn't count as the card Metal Energy, but does count as a card that provides Metal Energy.

Its the same with React.

People are getting confused over some silly little definitions.

There are 9 distinct energy types: Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Fighting, Metal, Darkness, Colorless.
Proof? Check the manual.

Rainbow Energy provides a single unit of energy that exhibits the above 9 defined types. Things like Warp Energy, React Energy, Potion Energy, Boost Energy, Metal Energy*, Darkness Energy*, etc. are not defined as part of the 9 types of energy.

*Treat the symbol as being separate from the name. For example: "Metal Energy provides M Energy." Both are read/spoken as "metal energy", but the former refers to the name of the card, the latter refers to the actual energy.

Other examples include:
Boost Energy provides CCC Energy.
Darkness Energy provides D Energy.
Heal Energy provides C Energy.
Scramble Energy provides C Energy.

This means all other special energy cards simply refer to themselves by name -- the card does not define any foreign energy types.

Under this definition, the above argument is essentially moot.

... QED?

Am I the only one baffled by the sudden onslaught of questions about Rainbow and React Energy in ATM?

I just don't remember this being asked quite this many times about any other special Energy cards (Boost, Scramble, etc etc), so I'm wondering what it is about React Energy that makes people think Rainbow can "become" it.

Newbies will always come and ask these questions, sadly. Look how many times someone had to ask about Mightyena Delta's second attack, for example. And some weren't even newbies:lol:

The general rule is that you are always using the card name (with one exception). This is true no mater what the card is : energy, trainer or pokemon.

The exception is a very important one however. So here it is: Whilst inplay if a card is providing energy of a particular type then it counts as an energy card of that type. The exception is used so often that we forget that it is just that. An exception.

The following are not types of energy : Rainbow, Heal, Scramble, R, DarkMetal, React, Cyclone, Warp. And there are many more.

[oh and its not just a noob error.]

No, React energy is simply a colourless energy, its just certain pokemon react to its name differently. Rainbow provide colourless, but no matter how much you want it to its not called React and so won't affect pokemon in the same way as react
