at washington states last year my opponenet cheated agenst me. if i'd had noticed id have not won states.
he showed me his hand at the beginning of the game magikarp magikarp 3 warp energy and 2 crobat g
he then stacked his deck and drew three pokedrawer + in two turns then used it too win. but then i went undefeated to win the whole states. I didn't realize until right after the game that he cheated.

I haven't played against a cheater (unless I didn't notice).

If someone cheated in a game against me I would call the judge. I don't tolerate cheating or stealing especially in an environment where there are kids who see that behavior and may copy it. People need to learn to set a good example for those younger than themselves.

The funniest run in with a cheat I have ever had was not my game personally. It was in a small South carolina tournament. I taught an old (yes literally old) friend to play pokemon. I built him a Jumpluff ampharos deck. (We all know the one where you flip and if heads jumpluff has 10 life left.) Anyway this guy was playing some red face powder manetric Ex deck I think. Well the whole game my old friend larry would ALWAYS flip heads because his dice where rigged. He knew it and asked larry to use his own dice in which larry refused. Probably because he was not stupid and had a hunch that they were rigged.
Anyway throughout the game the guy kept trying to manipulate the damage he took because jumpluff's attack is based on total number of energy in play so he would "accidentally" miss a few while counting. Needless to say things got pretty heated between larry and the guy and later on found out the guy dropped from the tournament.

Was amazing.

I ran into a cheater at worlds i think 2004 who beat me. I did not realize he cheated until too late. He was running the Nefarious LBS. Well he would stack his deck with Rare Candy Squirtle and Blastoise EX and he would keep 3 water energies in his sleeve or wherever, hoodie pocket wherever he decided that match. He would "Drop" a card and while bending over to pick it up he would switch for the water energies depending on how many he needed to turn 2 a blastoise ex. Needless to say I lost and later caught him in round 5, Told a judge and he was caught in round 6. I was short top by like 4 people..... Ruined the whole experience and at the time I was around 13.

I had someone try and hide a benched pokemon behind their discard pile to try and force through an Uxie once. Caught red-handed. Same kid later tried to draw 5 cards off a Felicity's Drawing. More recently, he was playing really quickly, and used a Junk Arm and without getting a trainer from his discard pile. He removed damage from a Yanmega he had in play, and as a spectator, I told a Judge about it, and had the Judge fix it. Kid didn't have Max Potion to Junk Arm for. Talk about awkward.

Intentional cheating, or just really forgetful? You decide!

There is a person where I play that I called the judge on when he would take forever to play his turn because that was the only way he could win. Now, whenever you go against him he will shuffle your deck for about 30 seconds after you do something.

I was accused of cheating once years ago. It was for marked cards which is a little different than what most people in here are talking about, but still, being accused of cheating is still being accused of cheating. I believe someone after playing me claimed I was getting all of my cards when I needed to(I was playing GG at the time, and anyone whose played that knows when you get two supporters a turn, it's pretty easy to get your cards out), and when I got towards the end of swiss, the judges checked my deck, let the owner of the store check my deck, then told me I was DQ'ed from the event. For the record, no, I didn't cheat.

Now I'm not upset at the judges for making the decision they made..ultimately at the time I didn't have a deckbox and I would just put my deck in my pocket, so my sleeves would get somewhat damaged. So to me, I put myself in a position to where I could have been DQ'ed..which is my own fault. At the end of the day though, I still was a little disappointed in everyone involved. I never really got fully embraced into the community I was playing in, so I understand that everybody may not have known my character or my intentions, but to me the second we start assuming that everybody is out to cheat, is the second we try to make the game into something it isn't, and are guilty of violating SOTG ourselves. Though there are prizes(sometimes huge ones) if you win, what people have to realize is that this IS a game. And though I'm not condoning people using certain advantages to get forward, it really ruins the game to me when people always want to expect the worst.

Like others said, let the judges handle those situations if you really aren't sure, because there's a difference between doing that and yelling out "Hey you cheated!" when you really don't know someone's intentions. For me personally I handle the situation like I do basically everything in life..I'll give you the benefit of the doubt the first time, but if something similar happens again, then yea regardless I'll probably just call a judge over and get it sorted out.

Last year's Regionals

My opponent handled cards like a skilled Vegas dealer. He drew 2 extra cards with Uxie. Caught him and called the Judge who bought the story that he drew them by mistake (fyi, someone who can work cards like this guy doesn't make that kind of mistake). He was allowed to put the card he claimed to have drawn back into his deck, though the card he actually drew I saw him slyly tuck into the middle of his hand before the Judge arrived. The Judge allowed this as well.

Asked for a card count between every turn. He would zip his hand open and closed so fast I could barely count the cards accurately. I made him put them face down on the table as he began his turn later in the game when I saw him clump draw several cards instead of just one. Sure enough, he again had 2 more cards than he was supposed to have.

Caught holding the bag again. I once again called the Judge who once again said it was a he-said-she-said situation for which they couldn't remedy as this time he denied the whole thing saying he had the proper number of cards in his hand. This wasn't, sadly, the first time I've caught an opponent cheating, but I decided right then and there I was done with any serious competitive play. I told my opponent if it was so important to win that he would result to those tactics, he could have it but he couldn't have the satisfaction of actually beating me.

Got a warning for making the statement, which was later reversed. Oh the irony :/

I haven't ever caught someone cheating against me before - though I hear a lot from my little cousin in juniors about cheating, which doesn't surprise me at all. I remember at his final round at cities, some kid he was battling started to lose and he started making up rules.

There's a kid at our league that cheats all the time. He beat my son a few weeks back because of it. My son knocked out his active pokemon, then the kid played a pokemon from his hand to active, attached an energy and did 10 damage for the win. If he would have moved his benched up to active he would have lost. There happened to be no judge that day. The guy that was running the tournament was a MTG player who was filling in for the shop owner.

I've only ever had one cheating problem that wasn't fixed by calling a judge. Here's the story.
It was back around Unseen Forces times and I was just getting back into Pokemon after being gone for a while. It was a Cities and I had two prizes left and my opponent had one and he needed to draw an energy card next turn to win otherwise I would win on my next turn. I attacked and drew my prize so it was 1-1 on prizes. And what I didn't notice is that instead of putting the Pokemon that I KO'd in the discard pile, he put it and all of the energy attached to it into his hand instead. He then drew, attached an energy and attacked for the win. I only found out about it because 3 of my friends that were watching told me it afterwords. That and the player has been seen (but sadly never caught) cheating at a couple other tournaments in the past few years. And you know what the sad part is? He's a TO and should know better. :frown: And no, I won't go into any more details on who it is.

Why need to Cheat TCG? I don´t get

Winning isn´t most important thing, playing is more important
It need to be fun.. I wanna win games, Of course but I never cheat for win

Very well said MagnEels.

I don't understand cheating myself :(
In the long run you are only cheating yourself really? As you wont grow as a player, instead you will rely on cheating to get you through.

There was a guy at our league that used to do it as well. Would stack cards on his deck when he thought wern't looking. He would also try and sneak cards from his discard into his hand. Would also go through his deck below the table, like down near his lap where people couldn't see it. He denied it all when confronted of course, so we would always have 1-2 people watching his games :)

Another one of my cousins, (11, seniors) was battling and this kid literally started calling a judge over claiming he was cheating, when I was watching the battle, he didn't do anything wrong. The kid was making up stories to get him to get an autoloss. It was awful. My cousin was so embarrassed. That kid was a worlds player as well. The judge didn't make him autoloss - though - because everyone around watching the battle was trying to defend him.

I've played against a person who just load on energy to pokemon when they think you aren't looking. Its funny because it was at a PR.
