I always forget, but how do you win a trip to worlds? An invite?
Here is a quick review for our last tournament season (refering to U.S. only)

City Championships - Local players compete for their City's title. Winners received medalions and tcg product prizes on site but also special VIP packages contain wonderful little goodies when they attended their appropriate State Championships.

State Championships - Players compete for their state's title. Winners received trophies and TCG product on site but also special Stage 1 VIP packages containing even more wonderful little goodies when they attended the National Championship

National Championships - Players compete for the title of National Champion. Winners received trophies and TCG product on site along with paid trip and invitation to the Pokemon World Championships.

Gym and Stadium Challenges - Players compete for an invitation to the World Championship. Winners received TCG product and invitaions and paid trips to the World Championships. Stadium Challenges are bigger than Gym Challenges and have more prizes and invites.

World Championships - Players compete to see who is the greatest Pokemon Masters in the World. Top winners receive a wonderful assortment of prizes including TCG product, exclusive edition cards, special trophies, scholarships, and invitation and paid trips to the next year's World Championships.

Of course modified tournaments also help get you into Worlds as you work to increase your ranking. If you are amongst the top 16 who have not yet receive an Invite, then you earn one (paid trip not included, must have a My Pokemon account).

Prereleases and League do not connect in the championship series directly. Also the tournament championship series is expanding so look out for new news later as the tournament season progresses.

So City and State don't have anything to do with the trips to worlds. (besides ranking) So if someone wanted to make it into worlds they would have to win a Gym/Stadium Challenge or Nationals, correct? The paid trip is only for the winner or a certain number of top ranks. (I heard 1st and 2nd get trips, and 3rd and 4th win invites, is that correct?) Thanks for the info! :)

Or be ranked in the top 16 Globally.

Yeah I know I'm going to be trying to run the Lakewood one. This year I'm going to try my best to establish myself better as the gym leader of the tacoma/lakewood area.

By winning a GC, CCs and States have nothing to do with worlds really. Other then rating I mean.

No but remeber, win a state championship and get a 2 round bye in nationals where there is a trip to world on the line.

I just cant wait to see the next seaon of championship events and now with the new set finally revealed as a new team rocket set the scene will be BIG.

I don't see byes being awards this year. But you never know.

Yeah, I after what that poor computer at nationals had to go through, definitely dont think that awarding byes is a good idea this time.

Even if we don't have the byes, they really did not help those who took them and lost. Resistance was crap for the players who took the byes and had losses.

We want to coordinate the scheduling so that we don't have conflicts. We had 7 CCs last year in Florida and we could easily double that (Miami, Melbourne, Tampa, Sarasota, etc. need to be added).

It's going to be a fun season.
We would love to host one in Sarasota!

I Love getting the bye's because I
save myself the embarrassment. See
everyone I face, I lose. Then I get laughed
at afterward. I don't get offended, but I
ussually am the most sportmanslike and
honorable player. I do much better in
Constructed Deck Tournaments rather
than Drafts or Pre- Releases. I can't
do really well in any pre-release.

Argh, we only have National Championships in Norway :(
I hope we get some more tournaments over here soon.
