Cobalion EX

ok well i haven't been on pokegym for a couple of weeks and i have been wondering about the new EX, Cobalion. His first attack seems useful because you could discard DCEs and Prism Energies, which would hinder some decks. Its second attack has almost the same text as Giratina EX, so Sigaliph would have no affect on that attack. paired up with the plasma storm Klinklang it appears to have potential.

Klinklang – Metal – HP140
Stage 2 (Team Plasma) – Evolves from Klang

Ability: Plasma Steel
Prevent all damage done to your Metal Pokemon by attacks from your opponent’s Pokemon-EX.

[M][M][C] Heavy Bullet: 70 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 3

Cobalion-EX – Steel – HP180
Basic Pokemon

[M] Holy Edge: 30 damage. Choose 1 Special Energy card attached to the Defending Pokemon and discard it.
[M][M][C] Steel Bullet: 100 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness, Resistance, or any other effects on the Defending Pokemon.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 2

It's decent, definitely nothing to write home about. I believe that it would be a tier 2 deck at best in all honesty. Nothing about it sticks out to get me excited about the card. Might find it's place as an attacker in a steel heavy klingklang build but that's it.

This will disrupt the Tornadus/Bouffalant decks since they use double colorless. I guess it's time to get my Darkrai/Hydreigon deck out of the closet.

Interesting... but if someone can KO before Klang before it can evolve that'd be a downer. Otherwise if someone relies on Mewtwo EX, he's done for.

What makes me pity Cobalion-EX is that its 2nd attack can't hit for weakness, which is gonna sting when Beartic Plasma gets released (I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that card is good...and if it's not when it comes out in February, it will be when the set following it gets released).

This could be an interesting combination, but I doubt it's going to see a whole lot of usage; plenty of Pokemon-EX-heavy decks have plenty of non-EX tech options they can use to get around it.
