Collecting and Battling

I love collecting Pokémon cards and keeping them in good condition, yet I also love battling with my friends. I have a few EX cards that I would like to use in a deck, but I also want to keep it in mint condition. Is it possible to collect and battle Pokémon cards? Anyone have any tips?

Use sleeves if using the cards. If playing for fun (I. E. not at a tournament) proxy energy cards to be the real ones and then use the real ones for reference.

I keep my cards in a plastic sleeve, and as well in a top loader. This is about the best you can do, as they are still able to be played for fun and still have a decent amount of protection
