Colorado Shootings

Although I couldn't see the government banning guns, how about automatic weapons? Like seriously. Who needs an automatic weapon anyway. That's just asking for trouble IMO.

Automatic weapons are illegal unless you have a special permit.
This man wasn't using an automatic weapon. He was using an AR-15, a civilian Assault Rifle, Semi-Automatic, meaning it only fires one round at a time, just like a hunting rifle.

@ Dialga Master: Guns have been around for too long, and too much information is available on how to make modifications to a gun.

I have been wondering since this has happened why anybody would ever do this. Now not on;y will he get his PHD but he might also get Life Sentence.

I heard this one guy went to movie to start off his birthday with a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Hey said before he went, "Man this is gonna be the best birthday EVER!" He was one of the many that lost their lives.

And people with guns kill a lot more people a lot more easily. Fact is American gun culture comes with a really high gun crime rate compared to other countries. This shooting wouldn't have happened if guns were restricted.

lol at people trying to say guns need to be banned/restricted. arizona is one of the only states that lets you obtain a automatic rifle / ar15 with an auto as long as you can get the license. some of your guys' logic would state that arizona would be the most dangerous place to live. guess what, its not. pfft...idiots who think they know anything about weapons and pistols

the only people you can blame when it comes to misuse of weapons is the person behind the trigger. no one else. stop trying to blame inanimate objects.

oh golly gee, we should ban hammers and screwdrivers because of what happened in russia!

also, people are so caught up with the news and media that they are not looking at this guy trying to figure out why he did it..

let me think a bit. neuroscience major(?)...graduate student...background in mental issues...lets try and think outside the box for a minute here. anyone else think that this guy was driving out an experiment that he made? i think so.

oh btw...my in laws live in AZ and have many many weapons. Do they kill people? no

^ "Idiots" should be changed to "under educated people". Any one educated knows what a gun can do just at the sight of seeing one. It is what people choose to do with the guns, not if they own one or not.

Before anyone jumps on my case for saying "under educated people"- I speak of the people who do not take the time to be responsible about guns, following the laws of the land, become educated on safety practice, the respect of life of others, knowing how and when to use one, and the purpose of why the gun(s) exist in the first place.

For anybody that compares "guns" to "cars", or any other legally available device that has the potential to kill, please remember this...

Please note the difference between "guns" and "everything else".

you know what you meant. dont try to downplay it for the younger "hipster" generation. im tired of seeing us "adults" have to downplay everything we say because were "afraid" of hurting someones feelings or upsetting some parents. boohoo.

someone who just plain kills someone for the "sport" or does not properly maintain a weapon/firearm is an idiot. its not hard to oil parts/clean carbon. if a certain mechanism is too much, take it to an expert. there are all kind of levels of maintenance on a weapon that any person falls under.

my son can take apart an AR15/M4 and assemble it. tell me what each part is that he takes apart, what they do, and re-assemble. if my 9 year old can do it, im sure you dont have to be THAT MUCH educated.

Idiot: A foolish or senseless person.
Educated: Having undergone education.

A person does not need to be educated to abuse something, that you are correct in r3skyline. An educated person can step out of the responsible level at any time and act the fool and do senseless acts.

I do not downplay real life situations. Nor do I fear hurting the feelings of others when it comes to discussing things that the real world deals with. I am not interested in appealing to the "hipster" crowd- I do not favor any group over another since bullets do not have self hate or favoritism. That is up to the person aiming the bullet to be responsible for.

Educated or not, we all hope that those who choose to use a gun, own a gun, sells a gun, has anything to do with guns in general is responsible for how it is used.

You are correct. I know what it is I meant with what it is I posted. I did not side with "idiot" people who acted the fool, I sided with people who are educated enough in the real world who actually practice safe gun use through a mind that is in favor of life and not destruction. There is more to education besides knowing 2+2=4, there is an education that instills the morals and mannerisms a person should have in order to not be an idiot when it comes to life, and the life of others.

I am not dragging in morals into this subject. Basic morals are one thing, other morals are optional. Respect is a moral, and it should be a heavy influence over a person in order to keep the idiot inside from taking over. Everyone is capable of being an idiot, it is up to them to not display it in such a manner that results in the death of others.

I do not think this guy is under educated, nor do I think he let the "idiot" inside get the best of him. I think he is playing the system, seeing if he can make fools of others. This is what I think, not a fact.

This incident is tragic, senseless, saddening to the victims- I feel for their loss. Regardless of this guy's true motives and why- it is not the guns fault.

Cool your jets, guys. This thread is about a massive tragedy, not about pro- vs anti-gun control and gun education.

I don't really care what your views are/which side of the gun control fence you are on - first amendment rights, and all that. Likewise, I'm not telling you that you need to agree with people on the other side of the fence. But what you all do need to do is refrain from calling each other "idiots" simply because they don't agree with you.

I'm going to leave this all here for now, since we're a ways into the discussion and you have all at least refrained from anything directed explicitly at any other individual. But make sure you're all a) keeping it civil, and b) remembering what this thread is originally supposed to be about - remembering the victims of this horrific act. Do those things, and this thread can keep going. Get nasty, and it won't.
