Hi!

I have a question that came up as i was playing a game.

1)
I was using Strike and fade against a dusknoir with an unown G attached, and he said that strike and fade wouldn't do anything to dusknoir because of the unown G, because he said that "doing 50 damage to one of your opponent's pokemon" is an effect, like placing damage counters, not doing damage.
( so Generally what I'm asking is, is it an effect, or is it actually doing damage?)

"Doing 50 damage" is NOT an effect "like placing damage counters".
Those are in fact opposite examples where one is damage and the other is an effect.
You get to do the 50 damage.

The question can be reduced to "is doing damage doing damage?" and it's not a trick question.
