Well mine is custom.. I made it. I based it off a picture I saw in one of my Pokemon graphic novels, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Ginji's Rescue Team. It was a lot of hard work! I even made the background color to exactly match the Pokegym blue. Tell me that isn't custom, it matches the forum and I made it myself! It's not just something I pulled from the internet. I made it using MS Paint and GIMP.

I'm hoping the contest will have to divisions. Maybe one for the ones pulled from the internet/card scans, and those made by the user.

My favorite ones are Jran Sakarra's and Black Mamba's (and of course my own :biggrin:). I knew who those characters were when I saw them, and I really like the pics.

So, we just post about the one avatar we saw that really caught our eye? Well, Mew*'s avatar really caught my attention. The hand drawn feel really suits the 'cuteness' factor of the Pokémon well, and having more then just one Pokémon allows for recognition. That's what an avatar is used for, right? It's to represent you as a person, and be easy to recognize.

On the topic of custom though, I see custom as something you made yourself. Example: I don't see taking a snapshot of a card scan as being very custom, but for some people, that works for what they want, so I respect that.

Of course, I'm a little stickler when it comes to avatars. I love making animated .gif files of all sorts of things. The Umbreon I'm using right now is one of the better ones (right behind the Drifloon one I just finished this morning, but is too late for use here).

Mine was drawn.....by someone...lol

I had 30 min to make a custom Avvy, so I looked up Absol Drawings online and found this.
 
The Corel Paint program is the best!

I think this may be a great contest depending on the avatars since I have not seen them all yet.
 
Oh come on. Isn't MY avatar even worth mentioning? I think mine is one of the best along with some others, but given that pokegym members vote this time, I'm not sure I'll win. Mew*, Jran and lil Magma also have great avatars (if lil Magma didn't get his from some place online) and might win.
 
Whoa I really like pikamaster's avatar, it was made from SCRATCH! And it looks really cool, but it's just really hard to do something like that with a flygon.....:frown:

I don't like Pikamaster's avatar. I could draw something better than that, but I don't have a scanner.

Of course, it might just be that it's Pikamaster's.
 
i would be correct in assuming the contest gallery has not been added yet? and do we need to upload our avatars onto for then to be entered in the contest? thanks

so what if avatars are just scans

your supposed to look for your favorite picture and make it your avatar

custom or not if it looks good its a good avatar

Not to take anything away from Jran Mew* or PikaMaster (who's avatar I don't really like) that did an amazing job creating their own.

I'm just saying that if I drew a picture of a squirtle and made it my avatar and it didn't look goood then why would it be a good avatar

Correct me if I am wrong, but you didn't even draw the Darth Pika in your avatar. Whats the difference between you using someone else's art and someone else using a pokemon card's art?
 
I think mines the best. I drew it all myself, everything. It's how Croagunk won worlds, I think that beats everyones avvie hands down. ;) lol I think the arts good, the trophy's in the back, he;s holding up his finger like #1! And it says #1 cuz... well he won! lol (I even made the #1... if that matters lol.) Anyways...... whatever. No matter what I think I won in my mind. It's so pro, don't lie. :thumb:
