Hey, I've been working on future decks and this is one I really believe is pretty good.

Dark Fire
Modified Format

Pokemon: 17
4 Growlithe (LM)
4 Arcanine ex
3 Absol ex (PK)
2 Absol (LM)
2 Houndour (UF)
2 Houndoom (UF)

Energy: 16
8 Fire
4 Holon's Electrode
4 React

Trainers: 27
4 Holon Transceiver
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Prof. Elm's Training Method
3 Battle Frontier
3 Mary's Request
2 Copycat
2 Holon Mentor
2 Warp Point
1 Giant Stump
1 Holon Scientist
1 Holon Adventurer

An older strategy can be seen: http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46521

I basically updated my Iron Chef Championship Deck. I really like this deck a lot. And am going to test it when it comes out. Basically, the strategy revolves around Arcanine's Overrun attack and placing damage everywhere, then moving it around for multiple KOs with Absol ex. Flame Swirling comes once you have a big KO coming up that you need, but basically, this deck sweeps through and is pretty quick. It's also pretty consistant. I went with Houndoom because DoomLock with Battle Fronter is pretty devestating to certain decks, especially MetaNite. There are some big Fire weak threats right now such as Metagross d, Scizor ex, and probably Metagross ex from Power Keepers. Water is not played very much anymore with the exception of Politoed, so I feel a little more comfortable playing a deck that has an unpopular weakness. Overrun + Cursed Eyes + Super Scoop Ups allow me to have board control and set up and place KOs where I wish.

Any help, thoughts, would be appreciated.

I only changed a few things with your list.
- 2 Copycat
- 2 Warp point
+ 1 Holon Voltorb
+ 1 Adventurer
+ 1 Fire Energy
+ 1 Mary's

I took copycat out because I don't think it is a good card in a deck like this. I lot of the time you will be building a large hand with the other draw cards. Now since there is no Admin, it is easy to build a stradegy around the cards that are in your hand. With copycat you never know what you will get in return. So I added a Mary's and a Adventurer

Warp point may be a helpful card against cessation crystal, but Arcanine ex should be able to knock out whatever is active. I don't believe there is anything that is free retreat in the deck so if you use a card like warp point often times you be using energy to retreat back to the Arcanine ex that is powered up. Warp point is not needed for status affect in this deck because of Arcanine ex's body and the Super Scoop up's.

I added a fire energy and a Holon Voltorb because you only had 12 first turn attachable energy. Now there is 14 with 1 that can be Mentored for. There is 11 other basics in the deck, so starting with the Holon's Voltorb isn't likely.

Like you said, I would test it to see if Houndoom is really the right fit in this deck. Ideally you would have a Arcanine ex Active, a Houndoom on the bench, a growlithe or another Arcanine ex on the bench, and you will probably have one of the Absols on the bench as well. It is pretty easy to play around Houndoom when there is 3 benched pokemon. Well anyway just test it and see how it goes.

Here's my list:

Pokemon: 18
4 Growlithe (LM)
4 Arcanine ex
3 Absol ex (PK)
2 Absol (LM)
2 Houndour (UF)
2 Houndoom (UF)
1 Holon Voltorb

Energy: 17
9 Fire
4 Holon's Electrode
4 React

Trainers: 25
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Prof. Elm's Training Method
3 Battle Frontier
1 Giant Stump
4 Mary's Request
4 Holon Transcever
2 Holon Mentor
2 Holon Adventurer
1 Holon Scientist

Agreed with some of your changes TMan, here's what I've got now:

Pokemon: 17
4 Growlithe (LM)
4 Arcanine ex
3 Absol ex (PK)
2 Absol (LM)
2 Houndour (UF)
2 Houndoom (UF)

Energy: 16
8 Fire
4 Holon's Electrode
4 React

Trainers: 27
4 Holon Transceiver
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Prof. Elm's Training Method
3 Battle Frontier
3 Mary's Request
2 Copycat
2 Holon Mentor
2 Giant Stump
1 Scott
1 Holon Scientist
1 Holon Adventurer

I did take out the Warp Point. I'm not sold on removing the Copycat yet. It's a nice emergency card to have, especially now that I added Scott. I also added a second Giant Stump. Now onto the whole Houndoom issue. One would think that Houndoom and Giant Stump wouldn't work together...and well, they'd be right. I use the cards for different matchups. Against something like MetaNite that needs powers from BF, I wouldn't use the Absols that game, and focus primarily on Overrun/Flame Swirl, and Super Scooping. Stump is also nice when the opponent has a full bench and are forced to drop their precious tecH or built up things. Houndoom is in this deck also to help me versus Dustox which hurts tremendously.

I did streamline and refocus it a little bit. I'm still testing it though.

I love how you post your ideas on the forum for everyone to see. Props to you for that. I don't know how useful PK's Absol ex will be for this deck. Your only moving 3 damage counters, and doing another 30 the next turn. I could see how it could KO 80HP pokemon pretty quickly, but at the same time, against decks that can build multiple 120HP-150HP pokemon, I could see a big reliance on Arcanine's second attack.

There is very little water out there right now, and I don't see a lot of water showing up (maybe if Blaziken becomes really popular). Good luck with the deck.
