lets say dark raticate uses dark seed on a torchic. then the player evolves torchic into combusken. does the dark seed still affect combusken? would combusken be able to retreat?

in another situation, if the player uses Switch on torchic, brings out a dunsparce, then retreats dunsparce to bring out the same torchic. does dark seed still affect torchic?

and in another situation, if torchic is Switched with dunsparce, does the Dark Seed affect go on dunsparce?

Think of "Dark Seed" along the lines of the old "Smokescreen" attack from the WOTC days. Basically, evolving, or retreating/switching removes the effect. I'll make a note to get answers for these for Dark Seed, but here are the old references for Smokescreen from the Compendium:
== SMOKESCREEN (Magmar - Fossil Expansion)

Q. If you use Smokescreen then retreat the Pokémon that is Smoke screened or if Magmar Retreats is it still in effect?
A. Smokescreen references the defending Pokémon, so if you bench that Pokémon the effect ends. If you bench Magmar then Smokescreen is in effect. (April 6, 2000 WotC Chat Q11)

Q. Does Magmar's Smokescreen affect end if the Defending Pokémon evolves?
A. Since Magmar's Smokescreen attack references the Defending Pokémon, by it evolving, it removes that effect. (Feb 3 WotC Chat)

Hope this helps,
