The member Darklord548 has admitted to selling in pm. Remember that this is an easy way to get ripped. If you deal with him or anyone in a pm and the trade goes bad you will get NO help.

This guy is pure evil! Do not ever deal with darklord548! He has made many sells through PM with no complaints and has always sold at reasonable prices. He is easy to deal with and is polite! Avoid him AT ALL COSTS!

That's beside the point...it goes directly against forum rules which are there for a reason, if you want to sell without any references, just go to ebay, or build up references by trading which a lot of people have done just to be able to sell here.

Being sarcastic doesn't exactly help your case either.

References aren't the main requirement -- it's the whole "year" thing which is likely the biggest hurdle. Granted he's not even 3 months in though.

Personally, I'd buy from someone who isn't a verified seller assuming I felt comfortable. Buying from someone who has 1 post and hasn't been here long is not something I'd be particularly comfortable with though.

It is fine. I will have to use Ebay I guess. I never jipped anyone is all I'm going to say. Actually I was the one jipping myself selling lower than needed. I hate that this was blown out of proportion. My bad for wanting to become a verified seller and admitting I PM'd people to do trades. Atleast I was honest. It is ok though, as long as people don't take this too far. Sorry for breaking the rules.

Btw, as Anunown said. The 1 year thing was too long for me to wait to clean out my drawers of online code cards and stuff lol. Ebay is nice and all, but there isn't enough communication on ebay with the seller to get that buyer/seller relationship. I had a couple people on here who always came back and it felt good to have loyal customers. I didn't read the rules fully, but I mean. How many times have you scrolled through the "I accept" terms of conditions things. It is like that episode of south park with the humancentipad.

This isn't a random line in the terms and conditions, it's listed as a sticky thread in the sales forum and talks about all of the things you can and can't do in regards to sales...

I'm sorry, I will not be selling here again. I understand I broke the rules of selling through PM. I just wanted to let everyone know that I didn't screw anyone over.... besides myself by admitting I sold through pm lol

Tbh, him coming forward and having refs and a good rep... I wouldn't mind buying from him.

It's the same thing buying from a verified seller here. Still not protected and still will not receive money back. The only way toget around that, an still not always possible, is to pay for the fees an have it an official transaction somehow.

As a verified seller, I have to disagree. I don't think people should be able to start selling on here right away, I think they need to earn the privilage. Buying from someone who just got on is not the same as someone who has waited and proved the fact that they are trustworthy. Buying things via PM from someone who is new is a slap in the face to those of us who have waited and proved ourselves. Make no mistake, I have no problem with new members trading, just selling. Being on for a year proves that you will be loyal to this website and your customers. Being on for a week proves nothing. I would have less of a problem with it if they had been on for a while (six or so months), or if they were a friend.

Also, as a verified seller and trusted trader, I will refund the buyer if they do not receive their end. I also do the same for trades.

Regardless, if you pay via paypal you can charge back. Yes, you can charge back gift payments too. I know because someone did it to me once =/ (not here or Pokemon related though)

And honestly, no one here hates you or anything of the matter. It's just that selling here is a big privilege since you don't have to deal with ebay fees, can negotiate with people, and don't have to deal with ebay's sometimes messy processes. I know you said you didn't want to wait, but unfortunately that's how life works. To be able to reap the benefits takes time and work. For example, there's ebay stores who sell cards for about 10% more than what I do - and they get sales. Why? They have a lot more experience and time than I do. Since I'm not a store and don't have as much feedback, I lower my prices to compete. 'Tis life.

This. Although darkrai isn't a verified seller he's pretty honest. He has sold to me via via pm at my own risk and had no problems. Also, coming from my experience with pokegym, if you get ripped off by verified seller, pokegym won't help you.

Did you contact Tribunal?
Did you contact paypal? (Within their 30 day limit)
Did you deal in PM or on forums?

Pokegym staff has always been helpful towards me...
Maybe you just did one of those things incorrectly?

Honestly what is the site going to do if someone is ripped off? Compensate them? Lets say I make a purchase from a verified seller. Agree to gift it to avoid fees because they have many refs, and is "verified". I get ripped off. I report. What will the gym do? Reimburse me or just ban the seller and I'm still out of my money?

Probably just ban the seller.
I always ask for payments to be via "goods" whether selling or buying...
Just so I have protection...

You could still try to dispute it?
That is why concealed cash is scary too...
I've lost probably $50 via concealed cash deals. So now, paypal only.

So... Either way in an event of being ripped off. Nothing could be done for the person who needs help?

You know, that is exactly what I was thinking! It is just better to not rip the person off. Honestly, I've been ripped off as a seller on many sites. It isn't even the money lose that bothers me. It is the fact that the sites do not do anything to actually "protect" you from anything.

Paypal is the only site I use as a medium because at least sometimes they will reimburse SOME to you! Which is why when I sell on here it is the only method I would ever accept!

While I understand where you guys are coming from, you need to remember something. This site is built on the assumption that as a member, you are to be honest when it comes to trading/selling. There are always going to be rippers/scammers out there, but they are the minority. The is no way possible that this site could create a way to protect buyers/traders, especially since this is a free site. Now, if this site charged a member fee; then yes, the site could be responsible for cards lost/stolen.

It is your responsibility to understand that every time you trade/buy with someone on here (or any Pokemon related site for that matter), there is always the possibility of being ripped/scammed. It happens to everyone at some time or another, you just need to be sure the person you are trading with/buying from is a trusted member. As for selling/trading in PM, I see nothing wrong with this. However, if you were to be ripped/scammed, then that is on you. The rule for making the deal public is to allow the site to ban those who scam/rip others, thus making the site a better place.

On a side note, I also agree that waiting a year to become a verified seller is quite a long time. 6-9 months would be a more reasonable time-frame, as many things could happen over the course of a year. I also believe that refs/feedback on another site (whether it be eBay/beach/etc) should hold some sort of value. While it may no pertain to this specific site, having over 100+ refs/feedback should not be something that is simply cast aside; as those refs took time and honesty to build up.
