I figured that this game was going to be a heavily advanced button masher like Kingdom Hearts or Crisis Core with similar depth (I like Kingdom Hearts due to the decent story, but hate button mashing, and Crisis Core to me was just yuck, but then I'm not huge on the story of a character who is kind of boring to me.) and boy, was I wrong.
I picked this up last Monday and I find myself taking it out before class, while on breaks during raids in WoW, and even on my breaks at work. The plot for the story isn't amazing, however it is a fighting game, and really isn't on the par of that of Soul Calibur or Blazblue/Guilty Gear (both of which have actually decent plotlines for fighters), but thats not what I care about.
The fighting system is stellar and awesome. Square Enix really fine tuned this game, utilizing all of the heroes and villains to their maximum potential, making every battle you partake in to be a blast, almost as if you were actually in Advent Children. I like how they recycled some of the music and change it for some of the bigger battles (Otherworld for Tidus Vs. Jecht in the Zanarkand Ruins... AWESOME. Even if I don't like Tidus, that fight was the most fun fight I've played so far)
I've liked pretty much every character in the game except for Firion who played a little bit sloppy to me. Haven't used any villains yet, but I hope to pick some up soon. GREAT game. HIGHLY recommended as a buyer. I don't normally approve of spinoffs unless it has Tactics at the end, but I will totally recommend this to a hard core or soft core Final Fantasy player.
lioncat: Terra is pretty fun, but she has a lot of unsafe moves. Very good distance character and her HP attacks are some of the coolest looking I've used so far. If you like trap based distance characters, you'll totally like her.
