Any of you guys seen this movie? I just saw it tonight and I thought it was great. It had a great story with excellent progression coupled with realistic acting and special effects. It starts out like a comical documentary to set the story up, then it gets to the action. The story revolves around the aliens trapped on Earth have advanced weapons, but only they can use them since the weapons are only designed to work with someone with their DNA. I won't say anymore than that so I don't spoil it, except that they really set the ending up for a sequel lol (while still giving a satisfying ending).

What did you guys that saw it think?

I thought it was pretty good. The pacing seemed to be spot on as there no dead spots, and the male lead did a nice job. I thought the mix between the documentary style and cinematic style of filmmaking worked without being distracting. I was also impressed with the visual effects and how the lighting made the CG characters blend into the sets.

Definitely recommended.

I have been waiting to see this movie ever since I saw the rating on my iGoogle page. From the reviews I read, the CGI is outstanding for the film's budget and even better than other recent films that had vastly larger amounts of money spent on them. Apparently, the lead human actor wasn't even an actor, but just someone who is friends with the director. The story itself appears to be the most original of any film that has been out all summer, if not all year.

Honestly I loved it. I thought it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I heard that the director already mentioned something about District 10. The movie definitely leaves a lot open for a sequel.

Just watched it, and I liked the movie itself, up until the ending. It seems like it ended with only half the story complete. Not like a movie with a sequel, like literally half a movie. E.G. I can watch Harry Potter 1 and feel like it was a complete story, but would aso have a sequal. I watch this and only feel as if it needs a sequal, and it wasn't a complete story.

The movie made no sense and it seemed like it was maid for to make money for Africa and you seem like a person who is just advertiseing it wasnt that good maybe if it made sense it would of have been good

Hmm, see I thought it had enough of an ending to satisfy. It basically showed what happened to the guy, his wife, and Christopher.

I was able to follow the story fine. The documentary style in the beginning set up the story great. Maybe you zoned out a lot during it :)
But there were a few minor things not critical to the story that I had some questions on in the end.

The director of the film is also originally from Johannesburg, which could explain why he chose it to be the setting.

Sorry to bump a thread from a few weeks ago, but this was absolutely incredible. I was watching a podcast the other day and they made the statement that DISTRICT 9 is closing the curtain on this generation of special effects in film-making and AVATAR is ushering in a completely new one, and I totally agree.

I love the message this is able to send while still being profitable and enjoyable to the average viewer. Definitely a masterpiece. If you haven't yet seen this, I'd recommend doing so as soon as possible. There's also a prequel of sorts that I can't quite remember the name of right now, but I've been meaning to check that out as well.
