Disturbing Picture

The only input I would have towards this thread would be to make some joke about the high quality 1609 photograph but Pop beat me to it.
Stupid British night time making me sleep and miss opportunities for comedy.

But since I'm posting anyway, technological advancments are a good thing and should be encouraged. It's the only way for us to progress as a race and be ready for the inevitable alien invasion.

I feel misled by the thread title.

I was expecting blood and gore and guts. All the good stuff, and it wasn't there. >.>

Am I the only one who things this is discusting D<
Humans are like locusts they destory an area and when that area is ruined the move on to another one.

In a few years time no one will even know what a tree looks like (Watch Wall-E for proof) xP

Trees are the only reason we can live on this planet they provide us with air and we provide them with Carbon Dioxide.

and hey....who wants to look at a world of grey D:

People have been claiming this for a long, long time. It's quite blatantly false. LOL

Well over half of the world's oxygen supply is synthesized by phytoplankton in the Oceans, not by trees. Trees are important but they aren't the only thing.

Because parks and preserves don't exist amirite

*sigh* I guess its right that 70% of America does't give a hoothoot about the envoroment.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the phytoplankton O2 count is somewhere around 70-80%, not just 50%.

I was thinking I gotta see this before a mod gets to it.
I was glad to see it was misleading.
First thing is my head was if that is NY then why is it half green?

*Sniff*

I smell an environmental debate boiling up, and I will not be a part of it.

All those stories about bison and Indians were just rumors, huh?

I am with you on that. I got tricked on the way to nats into something like one and I got owned.
Well there is one guy who is not riding with us again.

Humans are like locusts they destroy an area and when that area is ruined the move on to another one.

This isn't totally true, people still live in the cities ie NYC/ other cities.
People also replant trees and try to conserve (Central Park example again).
But the population does grow with medical advances, people living longer, infant mortalities being less than 400 years ago. This is why people migrate other places.

Well the envirement is important and humans do destroy the envirement. well i used to live in houston and they wwere cutting down trees to build an unnessecsary road. the world is slowly falling apart. i recently moved to north indiana and the air is much cleaner so my allergies are bad from it in a good way. Houston is on the list for some of the highest amounts of pollution in the country. i like indiana better

How on earth is this disturbing? I feel so disappointed. I thought I was actually going to see something interesting... :/

LuxrayX: Except Houston is the 4th Largest City in the United States.
AND STILL HAS TREES/PARKS

Many roads in Houston even if they are small are needed.
Take the Fort bend Toll road was totally needed to connect the area between 288 and 59 to Beltway 8 and 90.

Ha! Because Central Park is so big, it must be conservation! Who cares that parks only cover 25% of NYC - 14% in an average big city - and the rest is buildings!

I am arguing that this rate of growth is unacceptable. Whoo boy, you are all so clever with your "1609 color picture" remarks! If only that actually mattered.

This IS a disurbing picture! (And how could I show blood/guts on a PG site?).

You know what Central Park is? It's this. It's a nice green space, surrounded my towering, disgusting structures on all sides. Wow! What great "environmentalism"!

Do you really believe that because a few parks exist here and there, it's okay for humans to destroy the rest of the Earth?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Oh, yes we or 'they' have had full colored ariel photography since the middle ages, artificial satellites beginning around the 15th century and have touched the very fabrics of the space-time-continum about a hundred years ago, our technological 'advantages' is only a small iota of what 'they' allow us to observe at a given time, dare I say it? Conspiracy!!!

Is there honestly a point in this remark besides repeating others?

^Listen to him/her she has sence!

Answer this question for me then...

Where are the roughly 7 billion of us supposed to live WITHOUT disrupting the environment, if not in these densely populated areas with an average of 14% green space?
