Does any one have tips on learning to do an ollie on a skate board?

Hello, I am just learnig how to do ollies and I can only do an ollie about 1-2 inches high and thats even pretty hard , one problem I have is the I can ONLY do an ollie if I am jumping up somthing, like a curve.
it helps me think about what I should do to do the jump. Does any one have any tips on learning how to do ollies better? thanks!

Here's how you ollie:
1. Get some speed.
2. Slam down the kicktail and slide your front foot up the deck at the same time.
3. Land and roll away.
