So, a few days ago, I was browsing through the Clash at the Summit cards for potential deck ideas, and my scrolling mouse wheel suddenly froze.
Yanmega Prime.
When I saw it (and its awesome PokéBody), I knew it was the right card for me. 70 or a 40 snipe, both for no Energy? And a free retreat to boot? I was entirely sold.
And so began the list making.
I experimented with quite a few techs, new TSS lines, and whole new builds.
I had three lists to choose from, all three focusing on a slightly different area than the other two.
I had a strong, bulky build. I had a balanced build, with good speed and decent bulk, and I had a donk build.
After much contemplation, I chose the donk build.
I experimented with a few different T/S/S lines, but eventually settled for the one I'm using here.
Ad so, the theorymon was done.
(Of course, this deck hasn't seen any real play, as Triumphant isn't out yet.)
Donkyan: Hand In Hand
Pokémon (16):
4 Yanmega Prime CatS
4 Yanma CatS
3 Giratina PL (Let Loose)
3 Uxie LA
2 Crobat G
T/S/S (42):
4 Hunter LoLi
4 Copycat GS
4 Judge UL
4 Super Scoop Up UL
4 Team Galactic's Invention Poké Turn PL
3 Pokémon Collector GS
3 Bebe's Search RR
4 Expert Belt AR
3 Broken Time-Space PL
1 Luxury Ball SF
3 Night Teleporter SV
4 Junk Arm CatS
1 Palmer's Contribution SV
Energy (2):
2 Call Energy MD
Strategy:
Basically, use Judge or Giratina PL to equalise your and your opponent's hand sizes, and then standard donk procedure follows with Yanmega Prime, Bats and Uxies.
Hunter's there for being awesome: take up your Giratina PL, drop it, and force your opponent to shuffle that benched Pokémon.
The other cards are mostly for hand sizing if you can't get your Giratinas up and running.
Card Stuff
Yanmega (Prime) - Grass - HP 110
Stage 1 - Evolves from Yanma
Poke-Body: Insight
If you and your opponent have the same number of cards in your hands, this Pokemon’s attacks have no Energy cost.
[G][C] Linear Attack: Does 40 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance when damaging the Bench.)
[G][G][C] Sonic Boom: 70 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance.
Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 0
The key card in my deck. It's there for donking.
Yanma - Grass - HP 50
Basic Pokemon
Poke-Body: Free Flight
If this Pokemon has no Energy attached to it, this Pokemon has no retreat cost.
[G][C] Dive: 20 damage.
Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1
I personally prefer ths Yanma, as I'm not going to be using any Energy anytime soon.
Junk Arm
Goods (Trainer)
Discard 2 cards from your hand, then show 1 Goods card from your discard pile to your opponent, and put it in your hand.
You can’t choose any Junk Arm card from your discard pile with this card’s effect.
Good for discarding stuff to even out hand sizes.
Hunter - Supporter
Each player returns 1 of his or her Benched Pokemon and all cards attached to it to his or her hand. You return your cards first.
I really like this card in combination with Judge and (if I'm still keeping it) Giratina PL. Having them scoop a Benched Pokémon and then shuffle it back in is a wonderful thing.
