Donphan/Yanmega/Slowking is looking for anti Kingdra tech

Heyhey! =)

At first, sorry for my bad english ;)

Following problem: I am playing a Donphan/Yanmega/Slowking deck. I am playing without Zoroak and other techs, its only build for consistency and speed to lock and outspeed the opponent.
Before Kingdra/Yanmega were played, the deck had only positive or even matchups.
Now, i think that Kingdra will be a problem.

Yanmega vs Yanmega will be a pricerace in favour of the Kingdra deck cause spray splash. I cant increase my damage, so Kingdra will slowly gain a advantage over me.

Donphan is completely useless. Yanmega is resistent and Kingdra hits for weakness and can onehit Donphan with two spraysplash.

I have completely nothing what is effective against this deck.

Now, im asking myself: Do i have a little advantage cause of the consistency, outspeeding and lock or is this a really hopeless matchup?

So, what can i do to comprehend the disadvantage? I dont know a tech, i dont know how to play around Kingdra, im completely helpless ._.
Do anyone have an idea? A playtipp, a tech? Experience with this Matchup?

Thank you =)

i dont play kindgra/yanmega, but i dont think kingdra is used as attacker. If kingdra is used as attacker, then you can just tech in a reshiram or any other fire pokemon.
Against the yanmega you can use ruins of alph to do 60/90 dmg with donphan

btw do you play a slowKING or do you just play donphan and yanmega with a slowPOKE (its the basic of slowking and slowbro)

Omg, i will edit :D

I know, that Kingdra normaly isnt used as an attacker, but i think, most decks play rainbos energys. And if they can hit for x2, i think, they will do.

But, the teched Reshiram is a very nice idea. Ruins of alph maybe too, but reshiram is searchable and i think, its the better solution. Thanks very mutch! =)

You may want to try Zekrom as well. After a few Earthquakes early game, he'll have an easy time KOing kingdras and Yanmegas. If you run 3 or 4 junk arm, then 1 or 2 Lost Remover would be really effective in handicapping Kingdra.

Lanturn Prime is a fairly good tech for the matchup; just powering his attack puts it as a base 70 which KOs everything in the deck from weakness. It's also nice because it is the only thing the deck has to one-hit an opposing Donphan (via its Poke Power). Obviously it also requires a couple lightning energy. And it's a lot more effective when you're running DCE for Zoroark, so with no Zoroark it might not be your best option but still be aware of it.

Add one reshiram to your deck. No, really.

Kingdras attack will be reduced from 60 to 20.

That, or Torkoal (BURN YEAH)

Add in a Reshi and a Zek. Zekrom with good support is great in a format run by Yanmega, and Reshi destroys the ability to use Kingdra as an attacker. Also, lost remover is great because you can get rid of rainbow energies, but most importantly, for getting rid of DCEs on Jirachi so they don't devolve your whole entire field. That's 4 spots to add, which seems like a lot, but those techs can be used in other matchups, so if you have space, then go for it.

just add reshiram as a bench sitter and to take donohans earthquake damage to later out rage your opponent in late game.

Well except Kingdra/Yanmega never attacks with Kingdra. You need to counter the Yanmega, not the Kingdra. Unfortunately, Yanmega is a lot harder to counter.

so if kingdra/yanmega is playing donphan...they're NOT going to take the opportunity to ohko the donphan? please.

even though you don't run dce...i think zoro + 1/1 reshi/zek is your best way to counter kingdra and yanmega

No they really don't even get that opportunity. Donphan is never run alone; it's most often partnered with Yanmega and Zoroark. I'd never send Donphan up in that match unless I was cornered; Yanmega and Zoroark do a much better job against the deck. I wouldn't even drop Phanpy (this comes from 10+ games of testing).

Straight Donphan is a different story; then I'd agree with you. But it's never seen, especially at the top tables.

Serious answer: Potion.

That's what my brother and I played for Nats -- Donphan/Yanmega/Potion. It worked very well against mirrors, Kingdra, and always surprised the opponent. Never thought I'd play Potion in a deck, but it worked, haha.
