If anyone out there likes DBZ as much as me, this should be the thread to talk, ask questions, and just disscuss it.

Ok, since no-ones replying, i'll ask a question.
Has anyone seen the live action DBZ movie. It's very old and only in Japanese.

Yeah I LIKE this toon (and teh CCG =) )

Wha? There is one? I AM NOT looking forward to the ENGLISH version... c'mon the show is cheezy and cool... it's gonna look dumb.

=/

PS *bumping* is frowned upon... I'll just warn ya this time ;)

I quite like DBZ, but I can't work the CCG out. I tried it on the Gameboy Advance game of the card game, but it doesnt go over the rules and how to play properly and left me more confused than ever.

THE ccg is AWESOME, many more steps to be aware off:

Win states:
Capturing 7 dragonballs
Highest Personality - 3-5
Decking your opponent
Dragon's Victory (speciofic card)
Cosmic Backlash (specific card)

The Steps:
1) Draw step (3 cards)
*2) Non-combat step
3) Power up step
4a) Declaring combat
or
4b) Skipping Combat
5) Discarding down to 1 card
6) Rejuvenating 1 card that you discarded
and your turn ends.

COMBAT step is what can get messy:
1) you declare
**2) Your opponent draws 3 cards
3) You do something in your attack phase
4) Your opponent can counter in his defend-phase

THEN it switches
5) Your opponent does something in their attack-phase
6) You can counter in YOUR defend-phase

and SO ON an so forth until you can do nothing else.

COMBAT ends when both players SKIP consecutive attack phases.

I did say does something in the attack phase because it could be a Personality power, a card, an attack, etc.

IT can get complicated:
* You can activate certain non-combats in this phase, usually YOU activate these during you attack-phase
You can also place a location or battleground (something like a GYM in pokemon BUT you must skip combat if you do) and DRAGONBALLS are placed during this step

** Personality powers, non-combats, etc can activate at this time so it may take some time before YOU and your opponent draw all the CARDS you can to enter combat.

There is a lot of discarding involved, a lot of countering involved, and luck.

I did not even describe the personality, mastery, Sensei... IT TOOK me a while to get the hang of it BUT by seeing other people play.

BTW, the cards keep $$$ value, and the FOILS can be AWESOME looking; the tourney seen is UNBALANCED with few decks ALWAYS being played =/ and the ERRATA's for this game are MIND-numbing almost ALL SAIYAN saga cards had to be re-written -_- ; BUT what is nice is that TEXT of cards can over ride rules...

Yeah. The live-action DBZ movie was done when it was just getting its legs as a cartoon. It was mainly done with guns though-----not Ki or any special power.

Plus, the characters didnt really resemble the DBZ characters. They were sort of like deranged clones of them or something.

Man I wish I could read Japenese.

NEW NEWS!!

I just read that FOX is currently in the middle of buying the rights to make a live-action, NEW DBZ movie. This is brand new info, and I just lost the page where I read it on, but I'll post a link when I find it again.

*not looking forward to a live action movie*

The cartoon is silly absurd and endless in their power ups, battles, and lame dialogue.

Why can't it be an ORIGINAL anime?

Well, what other animés out there consist of fifty episodes of constipation, then one half-episode of fighting? I'd call it an original animé. :D

There is so much about DBZ i can talk about, its not even funny. One thing I will say, however, is that your better off watching the Japanese version of the ENTIRE series. Any anime that become "Americanized" is a waste of time to watch because everything from the American version is completely way off compared to the Japanese version. As for this live action movie stuff, its gonna be horrible. Movie production companies should have learned by now that adaptations NEVER work. Take the Mario Bros. movie, for example. EVERYTHING in the ENTIRE movie was WAY off. Then again, all of this is just my opinion.

Yup I know that it's Majinboo.

Buu, FAT Buu is so cool. I am currently USING the FUSION BUU personalities... so good & I am collecting BUU foils from the DBZ game.

Okay one episode, Dende pointed to Piccolo and said "is like hey arent you the guy that fused with Nail?" (or something like that) and a few episodes after that, Dende started saying " Who is that guy fighting Frieza?" (pointing at Piccolo)

There are so many bad translations in English...

Geez Americans try to change every Anime into their own! "What? Are you going to call the President of the United States?" -Bulma :( :( :( :( :(

what source can you trust from GEOCITIES? come on people, focus! However, it is true, on the OFFICIAL site---i said official not efficient---, they said, a while ago i might add, that FOX DID get the rights. And i believe they said industrial Light and Magic might be interested in doing the effects for it, not sure.

Well im not looking forward to the movie because one of my movie mottos is some things were just NOT meant to be live action...COMIC BOOK HEROES anyone?!!!

I couldnt believe what they did in X men! PLEASE! It was a joke! I was either laughing at it or squinting my eyes and shaking my head slowly and thusly: *shakes his head*.

I would rent the movie once it hits Blockbuster a day after theatrical release, though, just to see HOW they did stuff.

A quick note:
MY GOAL AT THIS POINT IS TO INFORM, NOT TO OFFEND! NO OFFENSE IN ANYWAY IS MEANT. THIS IS TO ANYONE WHO GETS OVERLY SENSITIVE TO THE FOLLOWING. I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE TO WRITE THIS IN A VERY SENSITIVE MANNER. I DONT THINK I WILL OFFEND ANYONE, BUT IN THE OFF CHANCE THAT I DO, KNOW I AM NOT ATTACKING ANYONE!

One thing that would bite Japan in the butt would be: who plays goku? Who plays ANYONE? My point being, of course, Japan's unrelenting tendency to have ONLY white people in their anime. DONT YOU DARE DENY IT! I am not trying to slam any race, i am simply reporting the obvious: nearly all anime characters are white IN APPEARENCE, they could be in the thick of Tokyo and they'd all have snow white skin and golden hair. Woo-blasted-hoo. Look at Popo...need i say more? But back to Goku, He looks more white than asian, as well as all the other guys. I dont remeber them saying anything about ANY character being from a foreign land. These guys are in China, or at least in Asia somewhere, so I refuse to believe how un-asian these guys look. Have some pride! Man, how can they deny themselves so frequently and easily?

Another example is YGO, look at Joey, Yugi, come on now, Yugi!!! WHY would an egyptian be white? Blond? It makes no sense...THey are in Asia, dont deny it! And look at their idea of an american from the US is: Bandit Keith! A bandana wearing, blond/blue/white, catholic?, rebel! How come the strongest fighter in the world is Blond haired, Blue eyed, and white skin (SSJ)? Wait a minute, that sounds like a familiar description..i think it sounds a bit like, yes--BLUE EYES, WHITE DRAGON, the ultimate monster! COME ON! If that isnt proof of anime's warped sense of race is, then you must be tuning out the obvious.

If you look at early DBZ, Goku indeed looks a good deal asian, compared to Cell and beyond, he lost what little asian-ness he had. So theres the question. Who do you cast to be goku? An asian would be nice, and accurate, because thats how it should be, but would he really look like Goku? If they cast a white guy, dye his hair, he'd look more like him, im sure, but would that feel right? Like having an Australian play the role of a US president in a movie. Would that feel right? Be honest. It comes down to race. You may be able to stretch that in a cartoon, but when you cross the threshold into reality, into live action, streching race gets hard. I think whatever their decision is, it will offend someone.

I know i am NOT the only person to notice this. I am interested to learn what you think of this post.

Psycho Lugia, dear god, you do not know how right you are. in my personal opinion, It would be impossible to have ANY American actor to play Goku. Why is that? Let me tell you. Back in the original Dragonball series, the narrator and many other people in the show (by experience) tell us that Goku is a pure-hearted child. One thing for sure, it would be impossible to play or even research the role of someone that is pure of heart because NO ONE IN THIS WORLD IS (no offense to anyone). I said it before and I'll say it again. Many adaptations dont work. If you're thinking of making a game, cartoon, or a comic series into a live action movie, chances are it wont work. It has been common sense ever since Super Mario Brothers was released in theatres.
