Hey guys, I was thinking about buying the DS Internet Browser... but is it any good? I was reading a review on Gamefaqs, and it said it takes like over a minute for a webpage with pictures on it to load! So, how do they perform on a site like Pokegym and eBay? I used browse the internet on my PSP, but I broke the Wi-Fi switch off of it, and I can't get the thing open to fix it. The PSP browser was also pretty slow. So how is the DS one? Thanks!

its horrible. like you said it takes over a minute for a webpage to load. the screen is so tiny so it takes forever to scroll the screen horizontally and vertically. stick with a computer when youre home, laptop when youre abroad.

Alright, sounds good, thanks for the info. I appreciate it!

How is the browser on the iPod Touch? If the one on the iPod sucks too, I might buy a cheap laptop .

iPhone and I'm assuming iPod Touch since it's the same system have really good internet capabilities.

I read somewhere it's been discontinued or something, so it might be worth picking up for a collector's item?

I owned it from January '07 (imported the Euro version) up 'til a few weeks ago, and I'll tell ya: I didn't use it much, but it was sufficient for basic web activity.

Loading times are awful, but they're not NEARLY as bad if you turn on the Small Screen Rendering mode, which takes away the pixel-perfect look of each page, but retains all of the text/images (it just puts everything in, essentially, a big list). It's even faster if you turn images off.

If you can find it cheap, I'd say it's nice to have on hand...but, honestly, I haven't seen it go cheap on eBay. I sold mine for like $40, which is crazy considering some stores still have units left at less than that, but it seems there's a bit of demand for it considering the fact that it's relatively tough to come by.

But if having a full-fledged portable web browser is a necessity, this is NOT your all-encompassing solution. It's very limited.

Yeah, well pretty much every piece of software is discontinued at some point. I am a big video game collector, but I don't think this is a very rare item since there are so many available on eBay.

Thanks for the input everybody.

Thank you for the great summary. I won't be getting it now unless it comes with in a lot, or if I can get it insanely cheap.

I got it, it is only good for when you are at school and you need to look something up real fast.
or you know you are going to a wifi area like a hotel.
it's a nice replacement for a laptop if you know there will be a wifi connection.

I had it at one time before I got a PSP.
It was sad.
I have found the homebrew version to be better.(Its free and legal)

Well to play homebrew on the DS I guess I'd need to get one of those flash packs to load data into it from my computer. Sound like fun, since I loved using homebrew on my PSP.

The iPod touch browser is great. It is very fast and easy to use. However it doesn't have flash support. And it is the exact same browser as the iPhone.

I also really like how the iPod touch has that Youtube app. I would use that a lot!

Yes they are fun!
I love using mine for a movie player/music/text viewer.
Easy way to keep notes and direction on hand.:thumb:
