Don't tell that CFF or Mentor or Lanette is better or whatsoever in this thread.
this is a thread about Dual Ball and Great Ball only.

What you guys think about this 2 cards.
If you have to fit a 4 of any of these into your deck, which 1 will you choose.

Dual Ball MAY get 2, 1 or none.
It CAN get EX.
It bring the basic you get to HAND.

Great Ball SURELY WILL GET 1.
It CAN"T get EX.
It put that basic to BENCH/IN PLAY.

I'll go for Great Ball. personally. I don't like to go risky while i want to. These cards are needed usually building up the game. the 2 tail will ruin your game.

That's just what I think.

What's your thought?

Depends on what deck you're running. Dual Ball can fetch you EX's while Great Ball cant, but Dual Ball is more risky.

I like Dual Ball in decks where I don't always want to put the basic pokemon on the bench.

I think you pretty much covered it in your post. I dont really get what there is to discuss.

BTW, I got ripped by a kid in Malaysia. Just a fun fact.

what ex basics are you going to pull? lugia? mew? mentor can get both.

great ball all the way.

dual ball is way too risky.

i prefere dual ball in all decks. i alwas put it unless i have 3 different types of basics in that case i put lanette

Yes, those ARE facts. They also dont state which is better. The following sentence states which one he thinks is better. He wants to see which one you think is better. He's just listing pros and cons for each.

i don't think there's any reason to run lanette over mentor.

@LFF: You got served :lol:

It depends for me. Non-basic ex deck=great ball. Ex heavy deck=dual ball

BUT, i'd much rather use a holon engine mentor, you get 3(even exs and put them in your hand) better than great ball, and dual ball. Unless you dont want to waste your supporter.

I used Dual Ball in one of my decks to get Ho-oh ex and Mewtwo... but generally, unless you need them to go to your hand, or you have basic ex's, I'd go with Great Ball.

Dual Ball > Great Ball almost always.

It can nab exes.

If both Great Ball and Dual Ball can both do the job (non-Ex, non holon poke, aren't planning to discard them, etc.), then perhaps the only thing you need to consider is whether or not you are the favorite in the game. However, there is a major assumption in this and that is: 2 basics has a value of 2, 1 basic has a value of 1, and zero basics has a value of 0. Sometimes this assumption is just wrong. If you're looking to draw a basic and drop energy on it, then 2 basics aren't twice as good 1 basic, but perhaps only 1.5 times as good as one basic. Under conditions like this, you are better off with Great Ball.

However, if 2 basics are worth twice whatever 1 basic is worth (etc.), then the expected value (to your game) of the Great Ball and Dual Ball is the same (the value of 1 basic). However, the Variance associated with Dual Ball is higher. Therefore, if you are the favorite in the game, then you should play Great Ball. If you are the underdog, then you should play Dual Ball.

That pic is stupid, it's not even Yoda talk...
Yeah, but it was the only relative one I could find that didn't have any profanity in it. >_<

I just wish GB could get exes. That's be one awesome card then.

I use 2-2 Dual ball - Great ball.
But I have almost no basic ex's, so it doesn't matter.

Or atleast put basics into your hand.

Dual ball is the better card when looked at theoretically saying that you will get Heads 50% of the time. I personally prefer Dual ball over Great ball.
