Durant Decks!? Not good to me

Why do people think that Durant Decks are deck eaters, yes they can be, but its not the best solution, I sweeped a Durant Deck using Terrakion from NV, and Reshiboar has a huge advantage on it. Let alone, if you use N like 3 or 4 time, u will end up with less cards in ur deck than ur opponent. If you ask me, its kinda useless. Anyone else got an opinion?

They´re not bad against any deck, but really struggle with Reshiram variants (especially Reshiphlosion - one Typhlosion up and that´s pretty much it) - however, they can really wreak havoc on setup-heavy decks, and are completely unforgiving if the opponent gets a bad start.

I´m surprised it won something as big as a Regional though - have the French come up with an idea with the impact of Gyarados again, or is Durant really that good in a tournament setting? I don´t quite believe either, but it definitely showed its potential.
Still probably not a consistent tournament winner, but it sure can win games.

D00d lrn2 pogeymanz.

Durant can make a good play, but to get the maximum effect out of it, you really need to keep playing it, making minor tweaks every time until you get a deck you feel is consistent enough. Even then you may not think it's perfect. More fun than having a common deck with a set list and never changing it.

Durant is probably doing better now than it will do in the future, because many people don't know the proper way to defend against it. I've used a Durant deck at PTCGO, and in several of the games I was headed for a loss until my opponent made a bad misplay which reversed the game and let me win.

Unless someone finds a way to beat Zekrom and Reshiram with Durrant, I doubt it will ever be a serious Deck.
It wins against slow Decks but anything that can ko it constantly from at least T3 on won't have any problems with it at all.

It's an autoloss to Tyram, but against other decks, it can wreck through disruption/milling. I beat a ZPST through catcher/lost remover/crushing hammer. It slows down fast decks and stalls already slow decks.

It's not an autoloss to Tyram though :| Catcher and mill before they can get 2 typhlosions up.

N is your friend.

They don't need 2 Typhlosions. One is enough because it can just take 6 straight prizes with Flare Destroy.

Durant is no way an autoloss to TyRam..

Most builds run and need to play cards such as PONT and Sage to get a single attacker going. Pair that with either Catchers on your bench or Sleep Pendulum flips with Hypno and you have yourselves a pretty short timer to take your prizes!

Don't underestimate the ant >:D

Durant decks is the type of deck meant for a no skilled game like yugioh IMHO.

But its not like Durant decks are unbeatable either. But I kind of think its cheap any time one of them wins seeing that they do not a lick of damage whatsoever to the opponent.

It brings a new aspect to the game making it more interesting. It's also unbelievably fun to play, try it out.

The thing is, with Durant weakness is sort of irrelevant. Reshiram's fire typing doesn't really help it against Durant...

Uhhh, no. It actually is huge, letting Reshiram get to a point where Outrage will easily ko Durant with special metal and evolite investment, so all resources are conserved.

You actually don't have to use Reshiram at all against Durant. Just play a Typhlosion and use Flare Destroy each turn (or Emboar if you're playing Reshiboar). It may not be an autowin but it's close.

Yeah Durant won a Regional in France. That being said, Regionals in France (and Europe in general) aren't the huge events they are in the United States, they're more like Cities with more prize support and therefore, often, a bit more people.

I won't share the list used by the winner without asking him. There were a few non-standard cards but it's not anything near the invention of Gyarados. I actually don't think this victory means Durant is suddenly the best deck, it just means it is a viable deck. It has a near-autoloss (Reshiram variants), a near-autowin (PrimeTime) and a bunch of decks it can win or lose against, so it's like a lot of decks.

I would think that a Durant deck would pack some sort of defense against Reshiram, considering how large of a threat it is and the "oops" energy acceleration that might occur when you mill into the discard pile. At the very least, KGL could serve as an amazing countermeasure; for one, it's essentially Durant on crack (mill 5 and destroy a backrow), not to mention that in a desperate situation, the fire attack can be used to knock out Reshiram.

Durant may not be the best deck, but its going to be a huge force for the first few weeks of cities. Playing smart against it is key because every sage/juniper makes them need 1-2 turns less to deck you out. Being able to kill a durant a turn and not playing any draw cards past what is absolutely needed is the key to winning. Im on a 15 game win streak on TCGO because everybody misplays and uses too many draw cards and then i discard key cards from their deck. Dont discount it, but i dont think it will be good for too long.
