Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Durant Decks!? Not good to me

Stage1 Support Pokemon, Stage2 Support Pokemon, Huge Basic that burns resources the way a '58 Chevy truck burns gas and all by turn2?!? Why go to all that trouble? A lone Ninetales does just as good a job, if not better, since you aren't helping your opponent burn through your deck...

That is why you have to be able to KO the Ninetails (not to hard only 90 HP) but a pure fire dek is super hard. Trainer lock depends, If you can get out you evolites before it hits the field its winnable. But if they beat to the trainer lock before you find and play your eviolites its harder. Durrant has way more favorable matchups right now then unfavorable and it is one heck of a fund deck to plsy and watch your opponets face as you mill away your opponts key cards. It is amazing how often you can get your opponet to just draw and pass as you mill, mill away.

^When I'm playing against the deck, I just get Typhlosion out ASAP, pile 20 energy on it, and say good game. They can't do anything to a T2-4 Typhlosion. I've even won games where I had to Juniper twice and didn't get Typhlosion out until T4-5. My TyRam list only runs Juniper/Sage for draw, too. I'd say it's definitely in Typhlosion's favor, although nobody can deny that Durant is more fun to play.

Ninetales certainly works, too, but Typhlosion is far more reliable against Crushing Hammer and such. Afterburner damage is also great if you're unlucky enough to open with Reshiram.

A good Durrant player will be able to counter that as well. But yes you do have the upperhand vs Durrant as does ZPST.

I have to agree with whoever said that one of Durant's main strengths is that a lot of people just don't know how to play against it. Some of the responses in this thread prove this point.

And while I have to agree that Durant doesn't take much skill to use, the same can be said (even more so) about Reshiphlosion. But playing Durant is way more fun.

Durant can be played well with no skill, however, the more you play it, the more you realise to play the deck excellently, it requires a lot more skill. A lot of the deck relies on people not knowing how to deal with it, yes.

Also Tyram has the advantage against Durant assuming you set up, but if you can't, Durant steamrolls you. You need a Typhlosion T2 or at latest T3 against Durant if you want a chance vs Durant, the blue flare until a point afterburner makes outrage a OHKO. Even then Durant can get lucky with it's secret weapon..mwahaha.

It doesn't take skill to play, it takes skill to build a outstanding list.

It takes a good judgement call to decide what to get with twins, and what to target with cards like Crushing Hammer does it not? It takes a different kind of skill to play it than decks like Reshiphlosion and ZPSt, but it still requires skill.

Weavile= bad in durant
crushing hammer+lost remover=pro in durant
Durant=tier 1.5 deck.

trust me, it's pretty good, it's bad matchups are
Fire....
Zekrom(but you win if they don't go off turn one/two)
Trainer lock(if they get setup quick, but if they rely too heavily on twins you've got a good shot)

^ this x2.
FSL helps vs trainer lock a lot though, they're kinda slow to set up and slow damage output too, so that helps.

typho/boar runs through durant, not bad zekrom players run though durant.

I'd like to call it tier 1, but you cant bank on playing people who don't know what they're doing all day.

I dont waste precious decks space with flippy cards like Crushing hammer, I just outspeed and defeat my opponets. All my cards work when I play them. I dont need lucky head flips to win games. Just beat them down to submission.

Nitpick, nitpick...my point is that Durant has options that it has to choose from throughout the course of a game, and it does take some skill to play properly, and even more to be played well.

So, using your Crushing Hammers and Catchers correctly is considered skill nowadays? :lol: Seriously, any Junior could play it correctly in my opinion.
Also, I don't see why Durrant should be fun to play. You're using a single attack all the game, how is that exciting or something like that? That's just boring...

I tend to agree that its not as fun as it may seem. Frustrating your opponent is always fun, but sitting there doing the same attack over and over for 8-10 turns a game, every game...gets boring after awhile. I played it for a few weeks at league, but moved on to find more skill based decks.

Yep because Durant is only about using Crushing Hammers and Catchers..

Partially, but it's just a fun deck to play in general, ask anyone that has it as one of their main decks.

I love this deck, I have so many ways that I can win a game while my opponent only has one so I have a huge advantage. You can deck your opponent, but if that is your only way to win it wont work. You have to have a durrant deck that can beat your opponet. :ike I said Iwent 7-3 and only decked my opponent 3 times. Devour destoroys your opponets deck then you sweep to victory. You are never just doing the same attack over and over again so it is not boring. It has become my most favorite deck to play since G&G.
