Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Durant Milling

Attempting to hit for damage with this deck is COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT.

Dialga Palkia Legend would be excellent here.

But it is always nice to have 1 backup attacker, whether it be Yanmega, Donphan, Steelix, Cobalion, or Scizor.

And it looks like this card is getting a pretty good following. I guess I wasn't the only person who got inspired.

Also thought of a new card. Research Record anyone? Gosh, this deck has all kinds of toys to play with.

On a side note, has there ever been a milling deck in Pokemon that worked? (Not Flygon Lv.X)

Why research record?
Just to fill up space?

Other than flytrap, I'm not really sure.

So the new Durant card reads this:

:metal: For each Durant you have in play, discard the top card from your opponent's deck.

I read this and it made me feel all fuzzy inside. I'm pretty sure it can't be competitive or anything, but it sounds like an awesome league deck, especially seeing as Durant is a common.

This is what I have for a little skeleton list (still lacks 24 cards though)

Pokemon-8

4 Durant
4 Mime Jr.

Trainers-20

4 Pokemon Collector
4 Defender
4 Revive
4 Eviolite
4 Junk Arm

Energy-8

4 Sp. Metal
4 Metal

What should be added? Besides Junipers and Oaks (which I didn't include due to now knowing how many of each) I thought about maybe adding in a 2-2 Steelix or 2 Cobalion, just in case. Thoughts? I'm seriously giving this a try when it is released. :thumb:

needs super rods for some recovery

Ok, I'll look at everything that was posted and make a list soon.

Even though I've never top cut a tournament I'm calling it here: I will win SOMETHING using Durant. :thumb:

The more I think about this, the more I like it. The only problem is prizes. I would play 2-2 Donphan or Yanmega wtih 2-3 Litographs to make sure I get any Durants out of there, The deck definitely has space for it.

prizes arent a big problem in my opinion. ud rotom and tm alph are faster than donphan/yanmega.

Ok, here is a list:

Pokemon-11

4 Durant
2 Mime Jr.
2 Scyther
2 Scizor Prime
1 Shaymin

Trainers-39

4 Pokemon Collector
4 Twins
3 Oak
3 Juniper
2 Seeker
2 Dual Ball
4 Defender
4 Revive
4 Eviolite
4 Junk Arm
2 Super Rod
2 Pokemon Catcher
1 ALPH Lithograph

Energy-10

4 Sp. Metal
6 Metal

I made this pretty fast, so I'm positive it could be improved.
Strategy: Collector/Dual Ball to get 3 Durant benched and 1 active with energy to mill your opponents deck. Twins is for drawing because you won't get any prize cards. Defender, Revive, Eviolite, Junkarm, and Super Rod help your little ants stay in line. Seeker is in case of healing.

Scizor Prime is for taking prizes, if needed, and combined with ALPH will help get your Durants out of prize cards.
Shaymin is to preserve any Sp. Metal that may be discarded.

cincinno is much faster than scizor if you want to pick prizes. If you cant pick prizes, rotom ud and tm alph are an alternative.
i also think switch isnt that bad. it helps you to retreat scizor/cincinno, mime jr, shaymin without wasting a turn and an energy.

I was one of the players with the Magmortar mill deck. Our biggest downfall was really the reversals as most of the games lost came down to a flip. In my opinion, that deck was the best and probably will be the only good mill deck for a while and was only good for the format at nats.

If you went 4-2 and lost to a Donchamp player, that was me.
