Dusknoir and Moonlight Stadium

My son has the following question from league play.

He had a Moonlight Stadium in play. His Dusknoir Lv.X was KO, so he went to replace the Moonlight Stadium with the Dusknoir Lx.X due to the Ectoplasm Poke-Power. He was told by the league players that he cannot replace his Moonlight Stadium and that he had to place the Dusknoir Lv.X into his discard pile. Their thinking was he cannot replace his own stadium with another stadium.

Is this correct:confused:

Thanks,

No, not correct at all.
Any player can replace another stadium with a stadium of a different name, whether it is their own or the other players.
Conversely, normally, neither player can replace a stadium with a stadium of the same name, even if the one in play belongs to the other player.

Additionally, since Dusknoir LvX is becoming a Stadium via an effect, it would even be able to replace another Dusknoir Stadium! This is the same reason you can Rare Candy a Pokemon the same turn you play it. When you do something by using an effect, you get to ignore normal rules.

Bottom line, when Dusknoir LvX is KO'd from the Active position by damage from an opponent's attack, it always becomes a Stadium (unless Powers are shut off by something like Glaceon LvX's Body).
