Dusknoir VS Gengar EDIT

If my opponent used Damage even on my active gengar and Knocked it out would i be able to use Fainting Spell. It happend at leauge and my oppoenet said hes "putting damage" on gengar so its not damaging it.

Ok my opponent uses Dusknoir SF #1 and has 11 damage counters on it and uses it's attack Damage even, and knockes out my avtive gengar SF. Am i still able to use the poke power Fainting spell? My opponent says i can't because it's putting damage counters on and not doing Damage. My question is can i use the poke power fainting spell

What Pokemon and what attack was used?

Your opponent is correct. Placing damage counters (with Damage Even) is not the same as doing damage and doesn't trigger the Fainting Spell PokeBody.

Oh! The attack is "Damage Even".
I got thrown off because you capitalized one word and not the other, so I though you were saying that he used damage, even...., with "even" as part of the sentence.
