MvdV - You claim you know a lot about what is going on in the Netherlands, and still you are saying the former TO's are stubborn.

What's so stubborn about that? :S

Good job btw, keep the group of players in NL growing!

Anybody who knows what's is going on in the Netherlands, also knows the whole divided/strange situation is because of 1 person, the LD

Even his own OP Manager knows this, but is to afraid to loose his job.
He is not able to turn things right, even is he wants.
Poor guy, being aware of what he should do, to get alive and Kicking OP, but for income depending on a boss who is not letting him do this.

MvdV, TON, Fireborn I wish you all the luck, putting up OP in the Netherlands.
I will wait until 23 feb 2007 my suspension ends and expect to see a very well arranged OP.
For now I'm out, I lost my appetite.

goodbye

Lia, one of our local TCG stores here in Oslo/Norway is running a FREE DS Booster draft on the 4th of December. There will be some support from our ND, but mainly this will consist a good discount on all the DS booster boxes the store has to buy.... They also give everyone free drinks and food.

I'll be judging there - so let's wait until then to see who can arrange the BEST booster draft in Europe, hehe!! *throws glove on the floor*

It's that you are so far away from here otherwise I could garantuee you that specific draft would be the BEST in Europe. I would have loaded all my players into a coach and attended. Hoping there was enough space to seat all of us.

FREE draft, that's amazing.

Pick up your glove it's winter and you will need it.
Of course I can't compete with a FREE draft, let me know how it went.

I will I will. I hope for the store economy's sake they don't get 100 players... It's gonna be a busy day for us judges... Pokemon drafts are very uncommon in Norway, so the place is gonna be packed with ppl in dire need of guidance.

Lets hope the LD has made it worth the shops while doing the event and if nothing else I hope the players respond by buying boosters and pokegoodies from the store.

A very generous offer indeed... No Free Draft at the Guild Xmas Xtravaganza but free Lucky Dip, Mince Pies and other PokeGoodies :D

Hope it goes well for you in Oslo

Well, here's the story. Now this is a regular store tournament, only it's draft and it's free. And how many attended??

121 players!!!

That outright crazy. That twice as much as I had anticipated, and twice as much as nationals in 2004, and 3 times as many as last Christmas Draft... We were 3 judges (me, Eskil and Tobias), and you could say we had our hands full...

But this proves only one thing, Pokemon is ROCKETING in Norway...

But don't let me take the glory away from your fantastic draft, I'm just letting you know Pokemon is alive and well in Norway.

wow - I'm speechless, try to keep them into the game.

Thanks! We used a lot of super glue, so they are still sitting there, waiting for the next chance to play...

I'm very happy with these results, it proofs once more we are right.
Anybody willing to invest into this game will get players.

I really really hope it all turn out financial well for the organising store.
121 players times 6 boosters = over 20 boxes of product, that's an awfull lot of money.
And I'm not talking about the free drinks and food you mentioned.

I think Norway beated ALL WORLDWIDE attendance numbers for draft.
And anybody should realize that it's a SHOPKEEPER who realized this numbers and not a LD.

Well, congrats Daddy : that is an astonishing performance, and a lesson of humility as well. I love you!

Great job my Nothern friends :thumb:

121 is more than many of the European Nationals

Thanks, Michel. I "fear" that we may break our 1(3)37 players attendance record at our Nationals 2005 next year...

But that being said, our high attendance only proves what can be done with this game, even if we don't have the same stuff as the U.S. (YET!!!), with the full range of premier events and such.

Yes! Exactly. If everyone (all distributors) decided to launch a gigantic campaign and invested a lot of money to get all Pokémon TCG players out there into the light, I'm sure we could get back to the same number of active players as we had 4 years ago. The Pokémon TCG players are still there, and many potential new players, they're just lurking around and the companies have to invest, invest, invest. Take the chance. This game has so much potential.

We just need the right people with the right ideas in charge. People like you and Outland Oslo's boss. Then we can obviously make amazing tournaments happen.

Disclaimer: Finally, the infamous Dutch LD rep (OP Manager Erik van Weverwijk, a.k.a. me) makes an appearance on these boards. The reason for this will be mentioned below. Please take into account that these are the PERSONAL opinions of me.

> It is a fact, that we are the only ones able to put down such large tournaments without help.
Sure. Fair enough. Credit where credit is due. Good Job! Keep on rocking!

> It is a fact, that we pay for it out of our own pockets.
> It is a fact that our tournaments are a succes, month after month, year after year.
I guess, I have no info on this. If so, you are to be commended for it.

> It is a fact our LD doesn't want to work with us.
Very true.

> It is a fact our LD is not able to put up descent OP.
Pardon me?

> It is a fact PUI demanded us to state loud and clear we are not part of the POP program.
> It is a fact the lack of OP is not us to blame, but you are trying to put part of the blame on us.
This seems very untrue to me.

> It is a fact our LD wanted us to become suspended, without having a reason.
Nope. You were suspended by PUI, not us. We cannot, and will not suspend players.

> It is a fact our suspension was a scapegoat, which is now going to be visible.
I have no clue what you mean by this.

Now, until I came this far in the thread I was going to let it go (yet again). Usually, I read these sort of comments, shake my head and go about my bussiness. But then this happened:
> Even his own OP Manager knows this, but is to afraid to loose his job.
> He is not able to turn things right, even is he wants.
> Poor guy, being aware of what he should do, to get alive and Kicking OP, but for income depending on a boss who is not letting him do this.

So. Now. [/Breathes. Inhale. Exhale. Get a grip on myself]. I see this as an unwarranted and very much untrue attack on my personal integrity, and this angers me to no end. I will, not ever (EVER!) let a comment, emotion or any other unreasonable thing allow me to NOT do the right thing. Not even for the sake of keeping my job. EVER!!!
If I believe something to be the right thing, I will do it. If I believe something to be wrong, I will NOT! I do have opinions, and in the past these have may at some point have been in your "favor", for lack of a better word. But opinions matter little in a professional environment where company policies overrule these. And on this day, I am glad they did...

Dear Erik,

> It is a fact our LD is not able to put up descent OP.
Pardon me?

Of course you have a very glorious growing OP environment. It's my opinion about OP in our country.

> It is a fact PUI demanded us to state loud and clear we are not part of the POP program.
> It is a fact the lack of OP is not us to blame, but you are trying to put part of the blame on us.
This seems very untrue to me.

Read the suspension letter, it's in there, and also in the statement of your boss. made in public and through a laywer.

> It is a fact our LD wanted us to become suspended, without having a reason.
Nope. You were suspended by PUI, not us. We cannot, and will not suspend players.

You (or must I say your boss) are advising PUI regarding suspensions, period. You wanted it, you got it.
It's also in a statement of your boss signed up by a laywer, that he gives the advice.
PUI does not have a clue about what is happening in our country, they are obligated to their contract to support you in any way and only listen to what you (or your boss) are declaring. Including lies we have on paper, but as long nobody is willing to look at those we can't defend our case.

Otherwise I'm very curious what made Jarrod not lifting our suspension after Worlds, like he indicated.
He even doesn't know some of the suspended people or what they are doing, and some people are not even playing Pokemon anymore. Without him having contact with 3 of the 4 suspended people he made a judgement??

So. Now. [/Breathes. Inhale. EVER!!!

Excuse me, and let me a moment fresh up your mind.
My conclusion about your integrity is based on our conversation at Worlds 2004, and meaby you have a short memory, but I don't. It's also based on information I got from "involved" people.
You admitted you couldn't do things right because of your boss his attitude, but of course I am a lier.

Who was the one supporting a TO in our country, who wanted to keep a CC at his private home.
Who was the one supporting this same TO in excluding players from joining that CC because they didn't live in that Region.
Meaby you really thought you did the right thing,(if you have read the FLoorrules your would have known you weren't) but when PUI corrected you, you were blaming me for canceling this CC.

Who was the one uploading tournaments who are NOT according the floorules?
Who was the one spreading MY PRIVATE INFORMATION to THIRTH parties?

It was YOU my dear not me. And I and also others have seen this things and questioned you about it.
Not only me but also thirth parties were not happy with the things you (meaby in order of your boss) were doing.

As long as the truth is not on the table in a honest and reviewing meeting, my view stays the same.
If your boss say, jump you jump and ask how high?
You and your boss refuse to give us any details about our suspension, while PUI ordered you to do.
You and your boss refuse to talk things out and you know very well MvdV tried to mediate this several times.
YOu were also the one not willing to send those promocards who were mentioned in the TO handbook.

So please don't give me this sjit, as long things are not cleared, all lies taken back and exused you are not integer.
We never got a fair change, because nobody is willing to tell us why (facts) we are suspended.
We never got a change to become in good standing.

Lia: Do not make any further comments about Erik's personal motives or integrity and stick to the facts of your situation. Thanks.

As long as he had admitted things to myself I consider it as a fact.
I might have better said, the way he is acting as OP Manager he is not integer. because outside that function I don't know him.
But anyway this topic can be closed, it has nothing to do with the subject anymore.
