What's good to run with them?

I thought of:
Phione (Great starter)
Pachirisu (ditto)
Mantine line (Free retreat water poekmon)
Absol EX (Spread more)
Mighteyena EX HP? (To get out the person you sniped and then OHKO them)

any more? And would it be good to put those for a deck? I especially want to know about Mighty, because think about it, hit benched Darkrai Lv.X for 40, then next turn, driving howl and send it up, then OHKO it...:p

Reply soon please!

Absol-Empoleon was good, but the upcoming Claydol (Pokemon Power = Professor Birch, basically) may put a damper on that. Plus, the assured popularity of Sceptile and other Grass pogeys will hurt Empoleon.

Meh, maybe tech in Ape like Yamato did?

Actually, I ran an Absol ex in mine.

Eh, just because.....

Pokemon: 17
4 Absol
4 Piplup
3 Prinplup
3 Empoleon
1 Empoleon Lv. X
1 Absol ex
1 Minun SW

Energy: 15
12 Water Energy
3 Scramble energy

Trainers: 9
2 Cessation Crystal
2 Rare Candy
2 Night Maintenance
2 Warp Point
1 Strength Charm

Supporters: 19
4 Mars
4 Celio's
3 Castaway
3 Birch
3 Roseanne's
2 Wager

Stadiums: 0

Minun is absolutely AMAZING with any deck that uses Scrambles and Wagers (with Emp X and Minun, even if you lose a Wager, you'll still have five cards to their four) Plus, it's very easy to sacrifice Absols and Prinplups, netting you damage spread, hand disruption, extra cards and extra energy.

Granted, I never won anything with this (I guarantee that I have worse luck that almost anyone else here), but I still think it's a solid enough list.

So, if Claydol is popular....I dunno....maybe Furret instead of Absol? Mantyke/tine might even work, since the possible decline of Absol would make it easier to get multiple Empoleons out quickly. Pachirisu-Phione also sounds nice, as even if Absol still persists, it can't really do anything to stop you from setting up your guys. Heck, if you go that way, you could even put a 1-1 or 2-2 Claydol in here; it'd be easy to get it out T2/3 with Pachirisu and Phione.

Edit: Oh, yeah, the lone Abex is GAME-SAVING in any sniping deck. The ability to move counters around is easily worth the small chance of starting with it.

Really? So I should play 1 AbEX? Infernape has been working nice.:p To see my list check it out in the deck garage, water rush.

I was just about to start a similar thread, so rather than bloat the forum... Like my title better though]

Empoleon Variants

I've seen many people referring to "Empoleon variants" on the gym, and my leaguers have also built a few things incorporating the line. I'm hoping to try to nail down the more common versions, because I want to have a better idea of what's out there. Then I try to figure out why they're together :S

Empoleon/Lucario seems the most popular
- both bench snipers

Empoleon/Blissey gets multiple mentions, as does
- tank-ish. hit stuff or spread damage

Empoleon/Magnezone (not sure why...?)
- I don't get this. Kids seem to like it

Empoleon/Octillery gets a couple
- both bench snipers, but looks inferior to Lucario due to shared weakness

Empoleon/Friends straight up with small supporting Pokés appears often, and
- Furret variant looks most sound

Empoleon/Some other stage two that always sounds unsustainable, e.g.
Ampharos/Magmortar/Gardevoir
- Stage 2s tempt people into building stuff that's hard to run

I'm quite happy to have my assessments torn apart. I'm asking, rather than telling.

Cheers,
MG

From what I have read, it seems like energy management could be enough of a problem with Lucario that the shared weakness Octillery route might be better. I have not played either, however.

Another one that I _have_ played is Dodrio. It was quite a while ago, but worked quite well at the time. Both bench snipers, colorless energy (90 for 3 may be too high to get started, but bench snipers and love scramble, IMHO), free retreat (everything in the deck retreats free with Mantyke/Mantine) and fighting resistance.

I've tried Dodrio and it fails when I play. It just can't get anything and flips to risky.
I prefer Phione over Absol and Lv.X seems to kill. 4 Empoleon are the deck. It's power isn't worth it.
Minun can't get back Scramble.:p
And with 2 cessation why bother to have them in there?

I think the reason scramble works so well with damage spreaders and bench snipers is that they lay a lot of damage without a KO. They can put lots of aggregate damage around the table before "losing the bubble" on Scramble by taking a prize. Frequently, you can last just enough turns to get a heavy hitter ready. If that heavy hitter can snipe, like Empoleon or Dodrio, nobody is safe.

Why? It'll hit mag won't it? 20 to all of mags, then whatever tech is in there will prob. be hit too.:p

What list should I play so I can effectively use Cessation Crystal?

Pokemon: 19
4-3-4 Empoleon
3 Phione
Options: 1-1 Raichu d/1-1 Mantine/1-1 Palkia Lv.X
1-0-1 Infernape (or 1-0-1 Exploud)
1 Holons Castform
