"Empoloario" revisited

Dear Forum Members,

My son wants to update his Empoleon deck so like his father, he too can be competitive with all the Psychic decks "haunting" Time Warp Comics in NJ. He thought he would try an Empoleon and Lucario combination. The strategy is simple--bench sniping, having very few low HP Pokemon in play so not to fall to Gardevoir Level X, teching in a Sableye in case the evil Absol comes around, and keeping the Trainer Engine as simple and direct as possible. Only the two level X's have PokePowers so Cessation Crystal would hurt most opponent's decks much more than it would hurt this deck. Scramble will help enormously especially with Empoleon and Mantine/Mantyke will help with Empoleon retreat as well as cutting down on the number of mulligans. Comments and suggestions please.

If the whole point is to beat Gardy decks, why have a pokemon(Luca Lv.X) with 2x Psychic weakness?
-1 Luca Lv.X
+1 Rare Candy

^ Because Stance wins games.

Its awesome. And a Close Combat out of nowhere can be game changing.

And, maybe - Mantyke, - Mantine
for + Warp Point, + Absol ex. It allows you to get 2 Ko's in one turn.

That's just tech, but you make the call.

Hope that helps.

Dear Bugsbite and DarthPika,

Really appreciate the deck lists. I'm surprised though that in your neck of the woods, neither player needed a Sableye--my son and I are getting killed at Time Warp Comics (NJ)with Absol's Baleful Wind and before everyone started playing Gardelade, the Blissey phenomenon.

Thanks again.

^ This was before Absol was big. I actually would prefear to just kill it quickly than stall against it.... do what ever works for you. Good luck.
