Snox you are almost funny,
First you refuse to even talk about an alternative location and now you have arranged one.
Is it on walking distance of the Duo Hotel? Or do you have an adress?

Also 100 players is something different as 100 paying hotelguests.
First you stated you need 100 quests to the hotel, now it's 100 players for the tournament.
So 100 players including your locals who are not using hotelrooms are enough? Because in that case I wouldn't worry to much. A K-32 tournament will get 50 Foreigners and if there are 50 locals you have that nice location.

Hi all,
I just spoke with the hotel manager and he told me that some people tried to reserve the rooms via some regular booking sites or directly thru their website. Please use the form system only. Fill the form and send it to the hotel email. Find the instructions here: www.pokeworld.eu/europen-cup. Otherwise the hotel is fully booked. There is still a lot of free rooms allocated just for us and our action. They are waiting just for your emails.

Thanks a lot, that's what I suspected. We will book our rooms shortly and pass the information to our fellow Italian players.

For those who didn't catch it: Snox warned us about the DUO reservations thing to give us a boost to make more reservations there as soon as possible, because that's part of the "big plan". I don't believe the tournament ever risked cancellation. I think Snox had a "back-up plan" since the very beginning, but he didn't want to spoil the details because people would probably have cared less about reservations, leading to a higher risk of not running the event at Hotel DUO, which is the best (not the only -- the best) location available so far.

Keep in mind this is a very important event for Czech Organized Play, and is run by the OP Manager itself. No joking. "European Cup" is just a name to draw more attentions, and - you know what? - that is working extremely well, and that's a real surprise considering that quite nobody in Europe cared about the TCG in Czech Republic (outside CZ itself, of course). So haters gonna hate.

Snox and his team assured us the tournament will take place no matter what. They have at least one alternate location with a good number of seats and I see everything going smoothly and in perfect timing. There's enough information for everybody to decide whether coming or not. For me and my friends a K-32 International Premier Event during an "exams-safe" period of the year in such a splendid (and cheap!) city is something unmissable.

Believe it or not but this is what Snox himself said.

You can cancel reservation. We need to have certain number of reservations until certain time, otherwise our booked number of rooms will be offered to public and the rent of the conference room will be high. The minimum number is 100. If we cannot reach this number the tournament would be cancelled because of impossibility to pay the rent.

And after asking about a back up plan

I could get a plan B that is for sure, but I do not think it will be that valuable...

People do care about reservations if it's made clear to them why it's needed and presented in a way they know their traveltime/money isn't waisted.
I don't believe there was any back up plan, but there might be one know.

Still it's all about 100 paying guest using the hotel, which is a lot, unless Italy invades the Czech Republic.

I don't know if I wanna go, just going there is expensive and I don't even have a decent deck...
Are there going other people from Belgium?
If so could you maybe bring me in contact with them?

Willem

PS: How many people do you expect?

Willem: Some from France as well, but you have to probably go to your local PKM pages to find somebody going with you... is there a topic? If not could you create one?

I expect 100-200 people playing...

note: please do not make posts asking for ride or room shares, as doing so is in violation of the 'gym rules.

'mom

Sorry to say this, but I will not be going...
I don't have a deck and to do this would cost me more than 300€ which is to expensive for me...
I hope that I can come to the 2011 European Cup (If there's gonna be one), which hopefully will be closer to me...

I hope it's gonna be great there on the 9-11 October and good luck to you all, Willem

I think you are going to have to resort to the other venue. There is no way a 100 people are making prereservations in 6 days.

Also, a double bed room, is that accommodation for 2 or 4 poeple? A twin bed room in the US usually means 2 beds for 2x2 people.

We do discuss this tournament at our local website, and somebody made a very true remark:
This whole thing sound more as a Hotel Manager who is trying to sell rooms, than as somebody who is organising a tournament.

Metaphorically talking, I guess? Hotel DUO has all of its rooms booked except for those Snox reserved in advance for the tournament. If there weren't any tournament, the hotel would probably have been completely full. Nothing seems suspicious to me. Please let's not go over the top.

@Ardoptres: the "Double room" declared in the reservation form is almost certainly for 2 people.

@Snox: I'll make a reservation for 9 people tomorrow. Are there still many more missing? Is it likely to come to an agreement with the hotel? We're counting on you, please give us as much details as possible =)
