European Cup

If there is any premier event deserving to award an Invite, it would not be this one.
This is a new tournament, god knows how much of less experienced staff there will be.

Sorry but don't count on getting an invite for this, if any SPE would get invites (which I doubt they will) it would be the Benelux cup. Years of experience with an international playersfield.

We need to get 100 prereservations made in hotel DUO to get a special offer for accomodation and conference halls (acco is only 20 EUR/person/night in ****hotel with breakfast). Otherwise we couldn't cover the costs of the rent. So please make the reservation asap and at least until 31.8.2010. Use only the special for downloadable on the pages and send it to: [email protected]. We could track the number of reservations only by this system, so please use it otherwise we will get no special prices for acco and conference rooms. If you used another reservation system let the hotel know please.

I am sorry but I couldn't provide you more info about the support from PCI, because they are still refusing to answer due to lot of work. It seems there is a lack of interest in supporting EU big events. So the only thing I could promise you are the resources I can get. I can promise you welcome kits, free booster packs for preregistering during Friday and sponsorship price made from entering fees. This also means we are going to have absolutely no profit from this and it even costs us a lot of work and effort to promote it and get additional support (for welcome kits, staffing and other). There will be international judges, that will help us with translations as well.

I hope you will all come and show PCI and USA that we are united and that we deserve a support and kind of big tournament system.

What does this mean exactly? If I make a reservation and the target number will not be reached, do I have to pay more? Or will the tournament be cancelled because you cannot pay the room?

This is just absolutely ridiculous. I mean, you never did a big tournament before, get a K-value of 32 (which is a k-value some good organizers I know would never ever get for their SPT´s) and you are STILL complaining and calling out on TPCI on a public message board? That´s just "Wow"...

We have the same tournament system as in the US (minus Regionals). I don´t know that you want to prove here.
 
most hotels allow you to cancel a reservation at no charge up to a day or two in advance. Not sure if this applies to the Hotel Duo.

I don't think Thomas is calling out TPCI. I suspect that this is a language issue rather than intent. Some of this will be "chicken-and-egg" A large number of pre-registrations would make it easier for TPCi to allocate an unpaid invite. Players maybe waiting for the invite confirmation before pre-registering. (Unfortunately that will doom the tournament)

I'm not arguing with you Glumanda, as I stated I think a lot of the misunderstanding is down to language and translation.

You can cancel reservation. We need to have certain number of reservations until certain time, otherwise our booked number of rooms will be offered to public and the rent of the conference room will be high. The minimum number is 100. If we cannot reach this number the tournament would be cancelled because of impossibility to pay the rent.

K-value depends on the number of expected players and the extent of the event in the area and its importance. This is some key TPCI is using...Ok I appreciate this, but nobody never wrote me back about any support for the event. And I mean I do not even know what to expect or if anything to expect. I do not know whether I could count that as a SPT or regionals or what...simply no answer that would help or concrete anything...nothing even about invites...:-/

That the effort could be worth an answer and some advice or help in some way.
 
I don't see the problem between 32 and 16.

If you're a good player, you will get your invite anyway. Seriously not that hard.
 
Yes I have to give V and I see it quite well as he did.
When one sees himself as a good enough player, you should also win.
