Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

European Rating Invites - Countdown to June 7th!

It makes sense that it was the Benelux Cup that was messing things up, cos it was mostly the Dutch players with minor ranking points, and the few foreigners that played in it would've had a minor impact on their fellow countrymen after they got back, etc.

But I still don't quite understand. Olaf B. in Juniors went 5-0 at the Benelux Cup, yet this morning his ranking changed and went down by like 20-30 points? How is this possible if the matches from the Benelux Cup were once again added to his score...?

Will Piete L get an invite?
According to the Freezer reply and OP-site, he's gonna get it, but it isn't updated to first post.
So was Marco J too late with that NOIR change?

WOOOW! 36TH and it's my first year!! I won't be needing the ranking invite anyway though because I've got the invite through UK Nationals (Second Place Juniors), and what a journy it has been to get here this season! Therefore, I would like to say a special thanks to Olly.K, Angus, Freddy, My Brother, Ben (Piplup), Storm and everyone at Phoenix Games for supporting me all the way! Please check out the Phoenix Games website at www.phoenixgames.co.uk;

invites probably next week

From a message on the POP forums it looks like the invites for europe probably won't be emailed out until next week.

The suspense is killing me - and I really wanted my son to find out while his grandparents were visiting so they could share his excitement.

oh well. it pales in the grander scheme of things. We rescued a trapped seagull baby last night. :) who knows it might just turn into a pelican one day. :)

Updated the seniors to reflect the NOIR change - please note, these rankings are not in any way official, so if I don't update the first post for whatever reason (time being the reason yesterday) this doesn't mean the change didn't take place ;)

But the general overview should be right. Of course you can't be 100% sure until the envelope hits the mat, but anyone amongst the top non-ranked players should be pretty sure of the invite, so that includes your son, pokegrrrl =)

Just print out and highlight all nat champs then your son name, which could be good enough to show that your son is going to worlds :)

Anna, I believe you still need to update the master part, I should be at 1760 instead of 1748. Still .10 behind Faisal so it probably doesn't mean that much of a difference, but yeah ;)

With this morning's update, practically EVERYONE had a changed rating again, from 0.01 to about 10 points up or down. I have no idea why, but it's really frustrating to have to update the whole list every day now everything's supposed to be done :p

I'll do the Seniors and Juniors later, really have to get some writing done now...

Anna, my guess is that players and POP are going through the tournaments looking for incorrect K values and out of age matches due to date of birth errors. there may also be a bit of merging of POPIDs going on.

Just speculation on my part.

I wonder if we can change our names to indicate if we have an invite or not. I'll just try it and see... seems not. Pity as that would be any easy way to keep track of the pass downs. Next year I volunteer to keep track of the EU Seniors.

It is looking pretty promising I must admit!

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Fireborn, thanks for running this thread and keeping it up to date!

Perhaps this is something Eric could incorporate into the website? Pokémon USA could tag all invite winners with a "invitee tag" or something as they get the winner info from each Nationals. They could then automatically be displayed as italic, bold, red or whatever on the list. :)

I turned my brother (Marc B. Switzerland) NOIR. I don't know if it's too late, but I didn't see it before.
He is senior.

You don't like red? :p

They could even be "rankless"/"numberless". For example:

1. Scooby Doo 1952

///Scrooge McDuck 1908

///Hermione Granger 1894

2. Ash Ketchum 1887

3. Fish Andchips 1882

///Naught Real 1877

4. Waldo Wheres 1873

etc ...

That would make sense, but how does that explain the changes of 0.2 or 0.5 points up or down? And it's only players from Norway, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands whose rankings are changing, not Finland, UK, Italy, or Switzerland. Really strange. Maybe it does have something to do with the Benelux Cup, as we had players from Germany and Denmark present, and if they used a wrong k-value or whatever, then it would indirectly affect all the players in Denmark and Germany who play against players who played against Benelux Cup players. Makes sense? :p

I updated the Seniors with all the changed rankings. I'll do the Juniors later today. You wouldn't believe how much time it takes :p I really hope they won't all change back tomorrow!

Rayquaza14, thanks a lot! I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference, because as far as I know, there are no Seniors just below the ranking cut-off who could use the invite cos they're going or planning on going, but it's much appreciated anyway! =D

Edit: I actually do think it has to do with the Benelux Cup. Two days ago it must've lost its ranking tag for whatever reason, and now they placed it back. I'm thinking this because many of the changes I made 2 days ago were things I had to change back now. And it does affect the Dutch players more than anyone else. For example, Olaf B. in Juniors lost 15 points 2 days ago, and now he got them back. And he went 5-0 at the Benelux Cup, so it had to have had a bigger impact on his rating than others who went 3-2 or 4-1.

Tego I can put an asterisk before the 'state' so we could tag ourselves that way. Not quite as effective as having POP tag us when they receive the invite information.

Anna, small changes in your rating can occur when a player you played against that is a long way away from your rating has their rating change by 10 or so points.

eg
200 point delta K=32,=> stake=7.69
190 point delta K=32,=> stake=8.03
