Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

EVENT UPDATE CENTER - just a thought

Would it be plausable to have a workstation area that is designated strictly for providing web-based entertainment (web updates and interviews of the event)?

In the era of reality television, how come we haven't employed some of the formulas that make these TV shows interesting and exciting?

An update center could employ 4 - 6 personnel who can provide web-based entertainment that would include:

- a "confessional" booth where players can tell the camera about their win/loss.
- updates of the Event's webpages
- Build up to certain matches (or player hype documentary)
- Video Surveys (i.e. "Why do you think there is so much LuxChomp in the tournament today?" , "What are some things YOU are going to do when the matches are finished today?")
- Informational Videos about the venue, Event Daily Wrap-ups

Pokemon "pays" its volunteers with swag. You just need to find 4 - 6 people who would collaborate and rotate at the Update Center for really cool swag (like that Pokemon Professor backpack + Hats + Packs .. etc.).

Swag it up and make it BIG WILLY STYLE!

I've always wondered why Pokemon hasn't promoted its events properly.

I think having a web offering with an entertainment slant would just BOOST event participation with the stunning effectiveness.

Am I making any sense to anyone?

hmmm this is the sort of idea that can go eithter way, it would really depend heavily on how its delivered, though I think it is a brilliant idea but has to be built upon so by maybe showing a featured match each round

I had this same idea a while ago, and I think it would be fun. It would give everyone an even bigger insight on what's going on at the big ones. I also had the idea, though this one would be nearly impossible, that we could get cameras and do a big ESPN type broadcast of the events to show on TV.

You mean like...G4 TV? They do it all the time, just need to get them in there to do it.

They'll get there. Pokemon appears to be growing, and isn't this the first year they've had a dedicated Worlds site at least?

Sign me up RA!

That would be a super idea, up to date coverage rather than let everyone sit and wait while PCi find the time to do it.

You could even have FEATURES on specific players like "NFL HARDKNOCKS" on HBO does it!

Follow a couple of Regionals Champs prepare for the event - like Thurs and Friday (i.e. Watching them discuss deck ideas, playtesting, agonizing over deck choice, hanging out etc...)

You could catch up with them on Saturday for an update, then again on Sunday.

There's GOTTA be some marketing and/or filmaking students who would LOVE to have an opportunity to build their resumes!

"Contributed to World Championship Coverage for Pokemon International 2011." <== WHAT ??!?!?

BTW = If this idea is ever actualized, I get to be on the production team. I'm just sayin'....

MtG does a lot of things like this for their players. I'd love to be a part of such a project, but I doubt I could, even if it did...

How could we push this type of thing for future events?

Well, this could be independently done. Live uStream feed to the net, posting to the site, and a couple camera people.

Worse comes to worse, we could take one of the open tables in the main event hall until we are told to move for a side event of something.

We'd need cooperation from TCPi to really get the kind of quality we're looking for. Honestly, I should be able to watch any match from the TopCut at any point in time, if not being streamed.

Yes. Doing it as a TCPi sponsored endeavor makes EVERYTHING better and there are no access issues. Also, any issues regarding tact, liability, and consistency of presentation with ongoing promotions would be co-ordinated and worked out.

It would need to be someting that Pokemon International was 100% supporting

I think, first, we need to generate some actual concern among the fanbase, get some more opinions/ideas. R_A, you've got quite a bit of pull around here...
