I sereiously don't like all of the talk about the apocalypse happening. Its almost 100% identical to y2k, except about what afstandopleren said, Which makes me wonder. However, that doesn't change my opinion about it not going to happen. The "apocalypse" will not happen, and theroetically IMO the world will never end.

Actually, in theory, the worlds WILL end when the sun dies.

BTW did it ever occur to someone that the Mayan calander endes because they figured if they were still around by now they would just make it again? lol

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I think that those religion thingies are WAY over the top.

The Maya people actually made very good predictions to, all with the help of their calendar.
It's quite intresting to see such 'primitive'people have such a complicated and precise way of telling time and such.

EDIT: The prediction from the Mayans about the year Zero. I'm not 100% sure but I believe it is more about people entering a new state of mind, rather than a Apocalyps.

Why are peple so keen on doom thinking?

Who knows. :rolleyes::lol:

2012 was never about the world ending, conspiracy theorists and doomsday worshipers got a hold of the date and twisted it into something it's not. 2012 is the coming of a new age/a new age of enlightenment/etc. I'm not quite sure where the whole "APOCALYPSE NAO!" thing came about.

And if by some chance it all does come to end in that year (which it won't), oh well. No point worrying about it, what's going to happen is going to happen, no stopping it.

Live for today, don't live in fear of the future, just take it all as it comes. Future, past, neither of them matter. Today is what matters, make it count.

Ughh...this stuff is so ridiculess. I sertinally don't beleive this, and I've heard it before. Btw, did you here this on Coast to Coast AM?

Actually Scientist have said that in about 5 billion years from now the Sun will have exhausted all of its fuel and swell so large that it will consume the inner planets then shirnk to less then the size it is today. It's just the star cycle, Wiki it. So there is an end to the world its just 5 billion years from now.
And that's the only true thing on this thread.

That's if global warming dosen't occur.

Wasen't it Nostrodamus who originally predicted this? He also predicted, and was correct about Hitler. Things like this really bring it right down to being a person of faith, or a person of science. This won't happen though. And if it does, I wanna see zombies, not volcanoes. Y'know, I wanna go down honorably with a shotgun in hand, and stuff like that.

Well, even if it is volcanoes and not zombies, what's stopping you from doing that?

Personally, this reminds me of when that string of asteroids crashed into Jupiter in the nineties - it's completely forgotten about these days, so don't worry about it. The media went nuts wondering what would happen; these things were huge. There were four main theories, the most exciting of which was that they would end up creating a Saturn-style ring around the planet, or maybe a new moon. In the event, they burned up in the atmosphere leaving no trace.

Moral of the story: Even in astronomy, the most exciting likelihood never happens.

Edit: A quick Wiki confirms that this was Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, if anyone's interested.

Its not going to happen so why are you freaking out about it. Even if it is true you have no way of preventing it so whats the point of worrying about it?

You are SO true about that, I cant wait till that day myself!:thumb:

Well... theres a good chance your going to be waiting for a looooooooooong time.

Or not... just don't really see it happening tomorrow or something if you know what I mean.

im not freaking out or over reacting but im curious what the effect will be its proof that the planet will comeand its the size of jupiter so idk
and if anyone knows what i mean that i can go outside tommorow and get hit by a car almost same odds

I agree with darthpika. Maybe the Mayan's were just like "awe screw it, when we get to the year 2000, then we'll start counting again, for now, that is 4,000 years in the future and I'm sick of this 'calandar creation meeting' and I want to go home already, we've been here for 3 weeks counting thousands of years into the future!!!"

I also agree with the Bible, which says that no man will know when the end will come.

Also, I really don't see the big fuss over a planet crossing our orbit (and the Mayan calandar, or whatever the big fuss is all about), I am curious to see if anything happens, but I don't think anything will. This would be an interesting question to talk to my my old college physics prof about.

The December 2012 thing interests me, I've seen TV shows about it. Of course I'm skeptical, but I'm open to the idea. The point on what the bible says leads me to be more on the side where it is false...

No way do I believe in global warming (caused by man)... my science teacher at school told us many facts disproving the theory. Here is a little article about it, one of the first things that came up after a google search. Seriously, the only reason in my opinion why the theory is still alive is because of the whole "go green" business... there are so many "environmental" businesses profiting from it. just my opinion. Wow, right now I'm hearing a commercial on TV advertising clean electricity... to solve the "climate crisis" :nonono:. My point exactly. Don't see this ending the world... lol, 2012 makes more sense

That and the fact that any disaster like that makes politicians look good by saying they will get rid of it, and gives reporters a never ending supply of work. As you said it also sells stuff.

BTW anyone else notice much hated companys, mostly Exon and power companys advertising how they help others and/or how to save money on your power bill?

Also, global warming isn't happening, but having cleaner stuff wouldn't hurt.

But it IS preventable! If we gather 8 of the 12 crystal skulls that were put around the planet, then arrange them in some way, their energy can stop it!!!

:nonono:

Or at least that's what some people think on this one crazy Kingdom of the Crystal Skull show. It didn't have any true evidence, and half the time was spent searching and running into dead ends, and dead people knowing where it was hidden.
