Eviolite and Crobat

If the defending Pokemon has Eviolite attached to it, how much damage does Crobat's attack do? Is it 20 for the attack and still 4 counters in-between turns or is poison part of the attack and therefore that is also reduced by 20? And if poison is reduced is it just on the initial attack or in-between turns too?

Notice the way you (correctly) wrote that: "20 damage" and "4 counters"
Eviolite protects against attack "damage", not attacks that place "counters".
In any event, the counters from the Poison are being placed by a Special Condition, not by an attack. The attack just placed the Special Condition. Once the Special Condition got placed, it was no longer associated with the attack.

So, the 40 damage would get reduced to 20, but that would be the end of it.
