This set focuses on the evil teams from past generations of Pokémon handheld games. The fourth generation has opened up more variety in each team's specialty, with some new type combinations such as Fire/Steel, Normal/Water, and Poison/Fighting expanding their approaches to evil. Now that the teams have the Go-Rock Squad and Team Galactic to contend with, just how are the classic evil teams going to survive?

Each of the trainers in this set have Pokémon and Trainer cards to match each team. There will also be unique DS- and Wii-transmitted data that will be revealed at the end of the Green set! Just how unique? You'll have to wait to find out! Here are the evil teams presented in this Red set:

Team Magma
Leader: Maxie
Covets: Groudon
Purpose: Land Expansion
Specialty: Fire-Type Pokémon and Attacks ({R} in TCG)
Headquarters (Ruby): Lilycove City, Hoenn
(Emerald): NE of Lavaridge Town, Hoenn
Game Debut: Ruby/Sapphire
Anime Debut: Episode 278, "A Ruin With A View" (season 6)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 374, "The Scuffle of Legends" (season 8)
Other High-Ranking Members: Tabitha, Courtney, Harland
Interesting Tidbit: Team Magma's "method" for land expansion involves using intense sunlight to dry up ocean water. There's one large flaw, though. Intense sunlight equals intense heat. Intense heat means the polar icecaps could potentially melt and flood the planet through global warming. Team Magma's "method" could potentially help Team Aqua more than it could help Team Magma.

Team Aqua
Leader: Archie
Covets: Kyogre
Purpose: Sea Expansion
Specialty: Water-Type Pokémon and Attacks ({W} in TCG)
Headquarters: Lilycove City, Hoenn (Sapphire)
Game Debut: Ruby/Sapphire
Anime Debut: Episode 293, "Stairway to Devon!" (season 6)
Most Recent Anime Appearance: Episode 374, "The Scuffle of Legends" (season 8)
Other High-Ranking Members: Matt, Shelly, Isabel
Interesting Tidbit: Team Aqua's "method" for sea expansion involves using heavy rainfall to cover up land. There's one large flaw, though. Heavy rainfall involves lowering the temperatures. Lowering the temperatures means the polar icecaps could potentially absorb the excess water and expand, exposing more land and potentially create a new ice age. Team Aqua's "method" could potentially help Team Magma more than it could help Team Aqua.

Team Rocket
Leader: Giovanni
Covets: The World
Purpose: Global Domination
Specialty: Varieties of Pokémon and Attacks, but largely Poison-type ({G} in TCG)
Headquarters (R/B/Y and FR/LG): Celadon City, Kanto
(G/S/C): Mahogany Town, Johto
(Anime): Somewhere in Kanto
Game Debut: JPN Red/Green
Anime Debut: Episode 2, "Pokémon Emergency" (season 1)
Last Time Team Rocket Didn't Appear: Episode 397, "Ash and May! Heated Battles in Hoenn!" (Japan-Only Episode, season 8)
(In American-Shown Episodes): Chronicles 20, "Trouble in Big Town"
(In American-Shown Main Series Episodes): Episode 1, "Pokémon! I Choose You!" (season 1)
High-Ranking Pairs: Jessie/James, Butch/Cassidy, Annie/Oakley, Attila/Hun*
*--Gender listing based on Japanese version. The character's gender is unclear in the American version.
Other High-Ranking Singles: Tyson**, The I.M.M., Nanba, Sebastian, Domino
**--Not to be confused with a Hoenn League tournament champion.
Interesting Tidbit: Giovanni's own specialties are not those of his team. While Team Rocket uses mainly Poison-types, Giovanni's specialty is Ground-types. Team Rocket's "methods" usually don't actually involve something potentially devastating to the planet.

If you're having trouble figuring out who evolves from what, take a look at a fourth-generation evolution guide I cooked up and put into this recycled thread. It will tell you just how the Pokémon line up in the fourth generation, who evolves from what, and even the Pokémon's DS types to help you figure Weakness and Resistance!

Cardmaking for this set is finished. All cards are done.
