Hmm... nobody seems to post image fakes, which is my scene. However, that won't stop me!

Welcome to the "official" thread for EX: Twilight, a set to showcase a portion of my new Pokémon. Also, for this set I created Light and Virus type blanks.

7/11/04 - added Squidrent, Starus, Magneton, Honoke, Octikle, Volcone, Kulseed, Porygon and Striktoil. Updated Finos.
16/11/04 - added Kirosyche, Cloudrain, Viperno, Light Energy, Virus Energy, Feraligatr ex and Typhlosion ex.

I am almost certainly quitting after this set and Eclipse. It depends if I am given a good enough excuse to carry on. But whether I decide to quit or not, it's about time I gave the credits to those who've helped me throughout my faking career. I'll update them if I must.

The art work, new types, original Pokemon I LOVE. You are really good at making actual fakes but there is one problem I see. Don't get me wrong I really like your work but the cards them self’s are kind of crappy. I know what you may be thinking that they are just fakes and it is not like they are going to be real but that thought is exactly way you should be make them more interesting! Don't be worried if you think they are to strong. Just have fun. You should check out my post of cards I made for a idea.

I’ve gone quite a while without any new cards. It’s the effect of school and being sidetracked with ATR-ETK. Well, at last I’ve gotten round to making some more fakes, so here they are. I’ll update the list up at the top.

Today we have 10 cards. Here’s the rundown;

Squidrent - a rather large squidlike fish thing with tentacles. Evil looking too. Final stage of water starter Squink. The art was difficult but I was quite pleased with the result. It’s a strong card when you’ve got more than one in play.

Starus - evolution of Starmie. Need I say more? Strong attack and power, but dependant on what’s in play.

Magneton - Dreamcorn art for ya. The best thing about it is its daring use of colours such as reds and yellows to build tone, things I wouldn’t dream of using myself but has been pulled off in true Dreamcorn fashion. As for the card itself, it can be OK in situations. Metal Frequency would be powerful if you can get a Metal Energy on it.

Honoke - After trying out a new shading style on Striktoil (talked about below), I used it again here. A pleasing result and a nice pose to go with it. A fairly useful attack in Angel Chorus, but needs a bench of Light types to be useful.

Octikle - second stage of water starter Squink. I find it to be perhaps overpowered, but the 8 flip thing can go any way. EX sets are always pushing the boundary anyway…

Volcone - a nice illustration from Wooper (Cascade Gonpory). Very imaginative, well coloured and designed! He is the first to draw this Pokémon. The card is useful in ways. Could be stronger, but it isn’t due to the higher HP. It could still do enormous damage if you like casting off energy.

Kulseed - the grass starter. A fairly standard piece of art. Nothing that’ll blow you away, but it’s OK. Good for setting up and evolving.

Magnemite - possibly my best piece of art in the set so far, perhaps due to the simplicity of the Pokémon in question. Either way, the tonal work I have here gives it a kind of metallic edge. Buh. Attacking is not this thing’s strongest point but it can be a pain. It can also get out quickly after doing a solid 30 damage, so it’s not so bad.

Porygon - an interesting use of green lighting looked odd until the background was put on. I am pleased with this art too, returning to the 3D roots I always used to use while adding a touch of originality. The attack is VERY good if there’s a Virus Energy on this thing.

Striktoil (no. 72) - the second of the two Striktoils. I became rather experimental on this piece of art when it came to shading and did a sort of “cell shaded” style that I’d never done before. I really like it a lot though. Not a strong card though. Meant for evolving like its 40 HP counterpart.


Thus far, this is the best set I’ve ever attempted artistically. I’ve tried new things and I’m really pleased with it. It is also the most accurate in construction as I understand the build of Advance cards even further, but no matter what anybody says the beauty of a set often comes in the artwork rather than the actual set.

And I would like to ask for volunteers to do art for the Squink line take 2 (Squink, Octikle and Squidrent), and perhaps Viperno and Cobroast also. If you want to do it, PM me. You don’t have to do them all of course, just pick one. More if you want to… feh. The first versions of each are already in the list so you can see what the Pokémon look like. Dynamic poses preferred =P
 
I'm....crying in joy....this is the best set I've ever seen. Now....I think sprites are in order! I must rally the old spritemaking team together! Huzzah!!! Also, were you planning on making your own "game genre" kind of thing with these guys? If so, could you PM me some stuff about it? The entire list of all the Pokemon in it, gym leaders, etc? I have attempted to make my own game, but lacked the game engine...This thing could become awesome....And the first step is sprites! Huzzah!
 
Wow! Great Art! This blows me away. And are there going to be EX cards, Shinings, Trainers, or Energy in this set? This is really cool.

About the sprite thing, I've been waiting forever.

Heh, sorry kids. I post my stuff at a number of forums and I'm not online as often as I should like. My memory isn't the best either. Bur. I swear I came to post it all just now :)

Oh, Feraligatr ex, I'm quite content that 50 damage is fine for the cost and effect of being able to pick who takes the damage.

Well, I really would like to see your cards, perhaps you could send them by E-mail? Of course, I would follow copyright laws, I may not claim them as my own, I may not hot them on my site, e.t.c. e.t.c. ...
