It is entirely possible that this card was intended for the 30 card format. Just a thought.

In Japan, only Juniors play 30 card. Masters and Seniors play 60 card. The upper divisions do play 30 card in select fun tournaments though.

They play HS-on in official tournaments, not BW-on. That's another one of the common mis-conceptions.2

As far as I remember since last year I think Japan only have Junior and Master division, I remember people in Japan e-mailed asking the pokemon company why they decide to take out Senior division and I think they never replied or something like that. I know for Worlds they do had Senior division as seen this past Worlds, but we never find out how they were gonna do the qualifiers and etc without Senior Division in Japan since Tsunami canceled all the events and I believe if I'm not mistaken in Japan they still play without a Senior division till today, unless Japan decide to change that again this year with the upcoming qualifiers.

But overall, yeah Japan is playing HS-on, and BW-on was the Battle Carnival's format which it was a fun event.

This is the third thread dedicated to this card. People are panicking because they think that it is the next Sableye. Rather than repeat my earlier post in its entirety, I will just say this:

First Ticket isn't the next Sableye, it's the next Lost World. First Ticket is nothing more than a gimmicky card in an otherwise unremarkable set.

i think people are missing a key factor in top cut if u have the ticket u get to go first in a game after u win

Well, someone else already did bring that point up, but the kicker is you have to get to top cut and win a match first. If the numbers given earlier (the second time) are correct, you only have a 36% chance of opening with at least on in your hand (since one card has to have been a Basic to avoid a mulligan).

So I'll state what others said to re-emphasize it: half the time you'd go first anyway. Of that remaining half, you have approximately a one-in-three chance of opening with at least one copy of Fast Ticket. If both players have it, then we janken.

So I think this will depend almost entirely on the players themselves. If enough adopt it, the rest may have to. If people are hesitant (or few can get a full playset in time and it has a poor showing at the next event after its release), it might be dead on arrival.

Okay, let's assume a game is happening where both players are playing four copies of Fast Ticket.
Let's also assume that 36% is the correct percentage for getting one in the opening hand.

A 36% of having one in the opening hand gives us a 64% of not having one in the opening hand (not counting mulligans, but that is going to really over complicate it and I'm trying to keep it simple).

Chances that neither player has it in their opening hand: 0.64 x 0.64 = 0.4096 ~41%
Chances that both players have it in their opening hand: 0.36 x 0.36 = 0.1296 ~13%
Chances that you have it but your opponent doesn't: 0.36 x 0.64 = 0.2304 ~23%
Chances that your opponent has it but you don't: 0.64 x 0.36 = 0.2304 ~ 23%

Now the only one there which helps us is:
"Chances that you have it but your opponent doesn't: 0.36 x 0.64 = 0.2304 ~23%"

So that's a 23% chance of being able to use the card with any effect at all.

Now, since the chances of us going first anyway was 50%, that makes it an 11.5% chance that Fast Ticket actually helped us at all.

That's only slightly better than 1 in 10 games.

Even at a big tournament you would be lucky if you got to use this card to your advantage twice.

Do you really want to devote four deck spaces to a card that will only help you an average of once per tournament?

Yeah, but as far as I know, they've not run any tournaments officially under that format since the change was made after the earthquake, and there haven't been tourneys since then. Could be wrong though.

Complete Garbage Card, keep in mind you have to draw it in conjunction with a basic for it to have any effect. Let's look at Durant: The deck everyone seems to feel the need to run First Ticket in. Durant runs 5 Basics relatively and an ideal start includes Collector, First Ticket,Durant and an Energy, im not to big on Math but I can assure you that this perfect set will never happen. Now I know what your thinking we don't need at least one of those cards but that is wrong! If all you do is Collector (you don't have an energy) for 3 Durants and not used Devour you have essentially achieved nothing in your goal, if all you do is attach an energy to Durant what do you do.. Devour for 1? That wil get you far, If you miss the Durant well you obviously won't be able to do anything and if you miss the First Ticket then you have achieved nothing by running it.
On the bright side 4 copies does increase your chance of starting off by 68% or thereabout considering mulligan and conjunction with a basic additionally if we multiply by the Coin Flip we practically will go first 75% of the time.

Hi

I´m gonna play that for sure, because I don´t wanna draw that anymore middle game

Only decks which need this for sure
Are Mewtwo/Celebi which can easier get donk with this and another one is Durant which wanna start most of games.

Zekrom/Eelektrik/Mewtwo EX doesn´t need this one because It´s strong, even If it doesn´t start the game

Why wanna play this in decks which doesn´t have to go first, this takes 1-4 places from your deck
This is great card, but it´s not good enough for me to play it with every deck
