Marril said:I can quite easily. It's like comparing The Matrix to a Jackie Chan movie. Sure, The Matrix (and FF:AC) were able to deliver wildly cinematic, wholly unrealistic, completely unbelievable in the end unfulfilling fight scenes, but something that's more believable is far more enjoyable, because you know that it's possible, and appreciate the level of skill that would go into a fight like that. In other words... I'll put it bluntly, the fight scenes in FF:AC sucked because they were too cinematic, all attempted style, and had no content to them. It's actually quite easy to disagree with the statement that the fight scenes were well done, if you look at them as actual fight scenes instead of strings of RPG moves.
Edit: Yeah, I just remembered the word I was looking for was "believable." Basically, if something's only believable if you're Superman, it's not going to work all that well in any kind of serious movie.
I expected Square to do less pandering to fanboys, and deliver more content, really. It's just the sign that they think their audience is truly juvenile, and care for cinematics more so than plot, characters, or any semblance of realism.
Don't get me wrong, FF7 itself was decent, and I have nothing against its storyline from a design standpoint. That said, the attempt at a "movie" for it was just patronizing and pandering, adding nothing to it as a story and delivering no content even in its visuals.
Just looking for a reason to argue arent you ..... think I'll take it out and do some HP EV training outside of Maulville on the lakes...
I enjoyed the movie alot, even if I have several issues with it. It wasnt really there to fill a void the game left out, since there was none... Cloud and gang save world, world stays saved for 500+ years. Its just a 'hey look what we can do' movie. Its a video game based around a lot of Sci-fi/primitive weaponry/monsters, I dont expect realism. I expect Cloud and others with Jeneova cells to have well above average strength, speed and power.
Also after watching the previews, what exact is FFVII Crisis Core, a game or movie? If game, what system is/will it be released for...
As much as I loved FFVII I was all for the whole no sequals philosiphy that Square used up thru 7, where stroy lines didnt seem to mimic each other so much... now they are soley in it for a profit, and cashing in on their more successfull games, which isnt entirely a bad idea, but still.... they could do a better job than FFVII AC and FFX-2. I'm still curious on FFVII DoC but we'll see...
