ROUND 6 - FINAL ROUND
(The Kid's First Tournament Experience: CCs!!)
RULES:
This is a SPUR OF THE MOMENT building scenario so...
Note: I'm putting text all over the place to simulate the confusion that created in that large room vs. your newfound ... situation.
Scenario:
One of the new seniors from your league has showed up for his FIRST-ever tournament:
City Championships!
You've been looking around at the fun matches and have noticed alot of Vileplume/Gengar, LuxChomp, and KingdraPrime rush.
That's a tough little meta!
oh yeah... and... the kid from your league has forgotten the deck you made him
The kid's dad recognizes you and makes a plea for assistance.
You need to build a deck for this kid again (yea, the one that traded away your Uxies AND the BeBe Searches from round 1! )
Well, while resisting your urge to flat-out say "You? .... no!"
A sudden surge of SOTG overwhelms you and off you go to the onsite vendor to see what can be done.
(at least he's finally mastered the use of the trainers and supporters that you put in his over the past couple of months! So, it's not exactly as daunting as Round 1)
The kid's dad picks up 4 packs of cards everytime they go to Walmart.
The vendor has theme decks, packs, sleeves, dice and deckboxes.
Guess what? The vendor ALSO has some singles for sale!
There's also a corner of the room where some heavy trading is taking place.
The dad buys the kid:
The dad (who's playing in masters now) understands the game a little better and is willing to buy the kid EITHER a 2-1 Uxie LvX , a 2-2 prime line, or a 2-2-1 LvX line ($50 limt; ebay pricing ref.) from the singles-for-sale display (not any mix of both whatsoever though.. too expensive!). He wants you to advise which way to go with draw/setup pokes.
Note: You can advice him to purchase up to 15 supporter/trainers/stadiums instead. Also, you have the option to advise him to purchase up to 10 rare pokes INSTEAD. or.. you can buy 5 rares and 10 common/uncommons instead. Every card from every set is available for purchase from the vendor, but he only has 4 of any one card. (rares as defined in trading round)
The kid wants a fire deck.
(at this point you don't have to accomodate that, deck check is freakin' OVER in 30 mins and the kid needs to understand what he's running!)
Dad is running a Donphan list that he netdecked from a Pokegym front page article.
(the kid has a brother who's in juniors. He's running Jumpluff).
The kid opens the packs and pulls a total of 8 rares (1 of them is an Prime/LvX!).
He has 8 supporter/trainers, 12 common pokes, 12 uncommon pokes.
(YOU get to determine what all of those cards are)
None of the cards repeat except for 2 of those rares, 3 of a supporter, and he pulled 3 copies of 2 of the common pokes.
(why do the Walmart packs only have 1 rare, 2 uncommon, 2 supporter and the rest common pokes?)
You are SO hungry and they just announced there would be a break for lunch after round 3.
There is a Steak-n-Shake across the street.
The kid's dad needs to go to Walmart to get diapers for his baby daughter. His wife is sitting in a chair with the baby. Walmart is 10 mins away roundtrip. (they sell HGSS theme decks and packs there)
Dad shows up while you're in the deckcheck line.
(there's a mini-pocket binder on the floor. It has 1 copy of each PRIME, 1 copy of each rare from UD, and 3 league uxies in it!)
The kid needs his decklist sheet filled out. Round 1 will start in 20 mins. They just made a "last call to get in line for deckchecks" announcement.
KidZero just texted you asking if you brought those 2 Luxray GLs. He needs them for today and he brought his trade binder.
You're running BLG (Blaziken/Luxray/Garchomp) today.
The seniors state champ just got in the deckcheck line. He's running Jumpluff.
Ok. Your kid is up for deckcheck. His deck checks out fine.
(you can't believe he brought NONE of the cards or his trade binder with him to CCs!)
Now, you have a small amount of time to sit down with the kid, spread out his deck and explain the deck's strategy. You're trying to get him to understand key cards and the decks focus.
He starts a test game vs. his dad.
(FYI - the kid didn't bring his trade binder with him either)
The kid brags to his dad about how well he's learned to use Night Teleporter with Uxie.
There are kids trading at a table next to your spot in the deckcheck line. Two of them are REALLY trying to trade hard to get Kingdra Primes to finish their own decks. One of them is asking if anyone has seen his trade binder).
You wish them both luck and head about your merry way.
YOUR CHECKLIST: (at a minimum)
THIS IS YOUR FINALS one-last-shot-at-it SUBMISSION FOLKS!
Places 1 - 6 are up for grabs! Only places 1 - 6 will receive prizes.
Good News. Your PM LIMIT = 2 PMs for submitting finals entry.
DUE: Friday, Oct. 8th 11:59 p.m. EST
Good luck.

1. You cannot ask me ANY questions for clarification for this round.
2. All of your information has to be drawn from the information in this post
3. Read carefully, there's some tidbits in there that may make your life easier!
4. Some information may be random and useless (again, to simulate the craziness that is CCs during deckcheck)
