Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Fishing engine v/s Soviet Engine, Which is better?

I dunno. I disagree that engines are garbage - whatever gets your cards out fast can't suck, IMHO.

But the concept of trying to set up multiple pokes without overflowing your early-game hand with supporters is kind of messed up. I think it's quaint, but I don't think there can be an engine based on multiple pokemon lines.

Besides, Fishing Engine is interspersed with random supporters - whoever said it's no supporter is being goofy.

In the end, I have to agree with Prof. Fish, if for no other reason than having a good time should be the first goal. We're not playing Yuugiou, here. xD

Even just running an average supporter line isn't bad, provided it works for you. I run the fishing engine in my deck, but I also know that with a tweak or two, the fishing engine stops working. That's just the way it is. And I'm sure the same could be said to any other supporter / trainer line.

ummmmm Dont most "soviet" engines run Volbeat and illuminse to get back there supporters? or is this just be being crazy and wasting more deck space

I wasn't trying to imply that the fishing engine was supposed to be used without any supporters, instead I wanted to test how powerful Claydol worked by inserting it into a deck sans all supporters. Based on my testing, once a Claydol hit the table the deck set up incredibly easy. But, if the Claydol didn't show up until turn 4 or later the game was almost always a loss. Basically, I used Claydol as then entire draw engine (much like Birch was used, originally) and I came out pretty impressed with what it could do. The best past comparison in feel to Claydol for me was Metagross d, since both cards let you cycle through your deck fairly quickly and put unneeded cards on the bottom of the deck.

Porygon based engines seem to be explosively fast, then quickly peter out once you've run though most of your supporters (and most of your deck). Getting set up is easy enough, the problem is fitting everything into the deck to make the most of what Porygon 2 can do.
