Fossil Tournament at Worlds 2005

Worlds will see 3 official age divisions : 10-, 11-14, 15+.

As I think it's not fair for old players like me to have to play against so young players who don't even know what a vinyl record or B/W TV can be, I propose a friendly :

40+ tournament at Worlds.

This could be run at the same place as the main event, or in the hotel.
All the players could play if they're 40+, and it would be nice to have Japanese fossils too.

We could have an unofficial 'Pokemon Fossil World Champion'

Ideas ? Suggestions ?

What about us who are in between? Not near 40 but still considered old to the 15+?

I guess ya can't please everyone

Fossils? Just because I'm older than dirt doesn't mean I'm a fossil.

I'm all for a senior tour of Pokemon. (Ok, I'm not that old, but maybe if they made it 40+ instead of 55+...)

I think 30+ is old enough to be considered as fossil, they remember Mr Ed, Bonanza and Thunderbirds.
(30 was the age in the Netherlands a time ago, the age when you became adult).

Best time to play a friendly tournament is sunday evening.
All official things are over then.
My experience of last year was that on Friday a lot of those fossils were trying to "grinder in"
And Saturday was to busy, because of the first part from the official tournament.

If none of us is in top 16 we will have whole Sunday, but I'm not sure how to communicate that.
Sunday evening also all judges are free to join. (and I have seen a few fossils among them)

If there are indeed enough people who like to join such an event, I volunteer as organizer/judge/contactperson whatever.
I'm planning to go there even if none of us earns an invitation.
And already have thoughts about the trophee for the winner of this event ----> Wooden shoes were before you may have them, you have to walk on them around the pool.

Outstanding idea! Count me in as well.
I just hope everyone in the tournament remembers to bring their glasses, hearing aid, false teeth & for some, a toupee!

ROFL! That's me, in the middle with the glasses ;)

Nice work, Lia! :)

That fake Promo card is GREAT Lia! Make it 30+ and you may hit most of the parents! (including me, since i'm a few years shy of 40 :)

Heh. Don't forget the TC Invitational (basically whoever is around is invited) and the Sunday Night Judges play off where we get creamed by PCL.

Well, I can't speak for next year, but last year we made it a point to invite the PCL folks to play some cards with the US staff and they took us up on it Sunday night.

You saw us looking around for a place to play that night when you were running your draft.
Now, if sensei would ever get the pictures up... :p

I'm past the 40's mark but I also think that the cutoff whould be 35+ to allow more players.

I also like the idea of some of the younger ones judging. Let them do all the running around.

OK, we'll have to check for the best time to play it.

I've already seen 30+ - 35+ - 40+ -45+

What do you think it's the best ?

And please, if we say that 30+ are 'fossils', how would you call me at 48 ???

Good idea to ask for younger judging Old man

I would love to play in a Fossils tournament!!! Any age is fine with me... I, unfortunately, will make all the cuts... hahahahahaha.... but I think 30+ is a good idea to get the most players.
