G&G vs. Magmortar

Playing against each other, what wins, G&G or Magmortar? :confused: A lot of people say Mag is better but according to history, G&G seems to win more.
 
The matchup is in Magmortar favor cuz of its comeback power,but when people play alot fo Gardylade,it is bound win more since it was used 1st and and the meta got flooded by it.

what if someone played G&G by hitting the bench with kirlia? force Mag to knock it out then knock mag out with gallade.
 
It varies by every person...That's why there is such a big debate over these 2 in the metagame right now. The expereience of playing varies by every person..
 
It depends

Against most decks, G&G just sets up a bench and waites to wack an opponent, but aganst Magmorar the best strategy is to tryto outspeed them and set up a Gasevoir and shut off the powers before they can be used to power up a Magmortar, if you force the Magmorar to get built up one Fire attathement at a time it really takes them out of the game. By the tume they gave enough energy one the Magmormotar to OHKO the Garvedoir, yo should have ample time to have a Gallade beched and powered up to counterattack for the return OHKO.
 
Gardy is faster and more powerful, but after Gallade has flipped all Prizes, the G&G can do a maximum of 60 damage which isn't enough to stand against Magmortar. Even to the Non-Lv.X Magmortar it's not a 2HKO without PlusPowers.

If Magmortar is played with Typhlosion, Psychic Lock can help to avoid getting swarmed, but it's still very difficult. In my opinion, Magmortar has the better matchup, but there's not much difference, something about 55-45.

The reason why Gardy wins more tournaments is because its only death matchup in the current metagame is T2 Banette, but nobody plays T2Ban any more because it has autoloss to Magmortar. On the other side, Magmortar has bad matchups vs any water decks like Hurricane and Empoleon, which are still played enough to be taken serious.
 
So, if Gardi get's out Psychic Lock out fast, it can beat Magmortar?

I believe it can, but why not something like 70-30 instead of 55-50?
 
But scramble is what makes Mortar a beast,no need for fire a time when they had a attach and still get the boost. and Burning. either way its in magmortars favor.
 
Unknown G on Magmortar kind of evens things out. problem with G&G is it recyles key parts of the deck quickly. Banette makes a reasonable partner with Marg if you play DRE to power up Banette, Use TV reporter to discard an extra Banette and you can really hurt G&G. comes down to a skill thing though. I like mags more because of his heal power.
 
Um most people don't knoe what Gardylock is so why would it be 40% of the format. Actually Gardylock would go under either rough or G&G.
 
both is good but it seems like GG is better. Why? because naerly everyone's playing it~

magmortar really have late game dominance w scramble (but still functions well w/o it).
