Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Garchomp Lv X worth playing when it comes out?

Chomp Lvl X and Flygon ex d = "BFF". I've been working on this deck ever since my girlfriend got me a japanese Chomp X for my birthday. It'll be better with the new supporters, but c'mon. Garchomp puts at least a damge counter on every pokemon then revives a Flygon ex you threw away with adventurer. Next turn you free retreat and clean up your opponent's field. Lati-lock to ensure you hit the bench and you're golden.

I was going for something like this
20x Pokemon

1x Alakazam*
2x Gible
1x Gabite
2x Garchomp
2x Garchomp Lv X
1x Squirtle
1x Blastoise D
2x Bronzor
2x Brongzong
3x Gardevoir D EX
3x Flygon D EX

23x Trainers

3x Bebes
3x Celios
4x Tvr or Holon Adventurer depending on which pokemon
4x Rare Candy
2x Night Maintence or TSD
4x Quick Ball
2x Windstorm
1x Battle Frontier

17x Energy

8x Grass
7x Fire
2x Multi

just for example but, you could play just about anything in place of Dragonite and Gardevoir. It just depends on what you choose

Your Flygon d ex can't attack...

my bad it was supposed to be Dragonite i fixed it

Why is everyone saying to tech in stuff like Dragonite ex, Ttar ex and Flygon ex? The ultimate tech would obvoiusly be a Salamence ex PK, so you can finnish off any thing that garchomp cant handle. It would very much be like the Lugia ex tech in Metanite, a really nasty suprize.

i challenge ANYONE to make a list with this that isn't clunky.

It's been done by tons of people already. Every tournament I've been to in Japan since I've arrived here in September (2007) has had at least one Garchomp lv X player in it. It's a great deck, and quite consistant.

It'd be better if not for the TONS of Blissey in the format.

In which format? HP - MT? There is no Garchomp lv X in the HP - MT format. :|

If Japan's current DP3-included format is anything to go by, Garchomp lv X is the deck that can (have a chance to) beat the deck that beats Blissey. :p

Salamence ex is not a good tech because it needs 4 Energy cards and discards the top cards of your deck. Dragonite ex and T-tar ex are pretty bad choices too, though, I'll agree on that. Flygon ex d should be no-brainer, however. It's an _incredible_ tech for this deck. Other good choices are Gallade (DP3) and Gardevoir ex d (DF), depending on your metagame. Ampharos DP3 is fun too, but hard to pull off.

I'd be really interested to see one of these Japanese lists.

This is seriously one of the most amazing mechanics I've ever seen in this game. I seriously want to play this deck SOOOOOOO MUCH.

I play tested it today and it was extremly stable. The Alakazam* was extremely helpful.
and yes it was a fun game to test the deck

Playng all different Basic Energy cards is really fun, but not needed in normal builds. Builts utilizing Mew* do however include a lot of different basic energies.

exactly should be :lightning :fighting: :psychic: :water: -next magmortor

looks good, you just gotta think;popular decks;
electavire
blissey
mario
empoleon
r-gon (psy weakness,in general)
megagatr
ape
magmortar

and their weakness;
f
f
p
e
p
r/e
w
w.

so that's; fight, psy, elec, fire, water. that's 5 out of 9. seems good, i think that covers everything.

okay, so chomp needs 5 different energy, max. sorted!

pokemon * are risky with garchomp. Playing stage 2's without their under evolutions is best because you bottleneck yourself a good start (or at least consistant start). Lone Pokemon* starts are more likely then one might think. Besides, no pokemon * is really worth playing when you've got an array of stage 2's to choose from, all of which Chomp X can practically pull out of thin air. And lest we forget, that if not for the blissey in the format, Garchomp would be good by himself.

umbreon star disruption. mew star mimic, and because chomp uses loads of different energy-rainbow wave!

the roblem i got wih chomp is that the card you get back is a basic. flygon ex d as a basic. any pokemon becomes a basic, no scramble for you, no dre for you. hmm
