-Copycat
+Professor Oak's New Theory/Cynthia's Feelings

I don't think that Copycat will always provide you with the draw power you need at some points. PONT or Cynthia's Feelings can be played for a good hand of cards even if your opponent has very few cards in his/her hand.

I would also take out the two Moonlight Stadiums for Broken-Time Spaces. Gengars have Free Retreat, and Broken Time-Space helps with speed. You also already have Unown Q for Spiritomb to receive Free Retreat.

Aside from that, I would run the GE Baltoy so you can Psychic Balance for a couple cards if you get a bad starting hand.

Is it legal to time walk a lv X out of your prizes with Azelf?

Also, you prefer moonlight over broken time space, even though you have unown Q?

Is 3 poketurns and 1 crobat really something you can count on or is it more of an inconsistent novelty?

stuff to consider

Best Cursegar list I've seen on the Gym by miles.

Drop the Moonlights for a Warp Energy (in case of locks) and a 4thTomb.

Try this:

+1 Spiritomb (your ideal starter)
+1-1 Mewtwo Lv.X
+2 Looker's
+1 Mr. Mime MT
+1 Warp Point

-1 Unown G
-1 Copycat
-1 Crobat G
-3 PokeTurn
-1 Gastly

Try that, lmk what you think.

IMO 3 Spiritomb and no Mr. Mime is too little. I'd take out a Gastly for a Spiritomb and a Copy Cat for a Mr. Mime. If you wanted a second Mr. Mime then take out Uxie.

Also, one Crobat and three Poketurn's is pretty pointless. Either take them out, or add in a 1-1 Luxray GL Lv.X. So nice in this deck.

Ugh, I didn't see there was no Mime.

Definitely needs Mime.

Since when did Crobat and Poketurns become pointless in Gengar ??????

They never did, but in a deck like this you need the space. With Cursegar hitting the bench it isn't too needed, I just find that 2 Crobat's and 3-4 Poketurn runs better. I still have to say though, Luxray is so nice in this.

I probably put my point across wrong. They're good, for sure. But I'd play more Bats and Turns.

Yeah, looking at it I see this is a more SF orientated Gengar deck. I still think my changes are needed, maybe not the Mewtwo Lv,X, but try to keep in the Bats and Turns if you can.

Luxray is nice.

Cursegar doesn't hit the bench (the LV X attack isn't really used)

It's all about giving yourself options . . . no reason not to take some cheap prizes with Shadow Room and Crobats if that's the best play.

I meant with Shadow Skip. Like you can do 10 to an Uxie, then 10 to an Azelf etc

One of my sons runs a very similar deck however he just switched out the Nidoqueen line for a Dusknoir Dark Palm line. I know it is a Power that can be sprayed or locked by GG but it is great against so many decks. What are your thoughts on that change?

I considered that, but I just like Nidoqueen better since it makes it harder to play around Fainting Spell. It's also a better attacker than Dusknoir. I think Dusknoir DP is the second best tech for this deck. I've been thinking about taking out a Cursegar for another Spellgar in the most recent list above. Anybody have any advice on that?

I run a similar deck and I have been wondering the same thing. In my build I run 1 Mr.Mime in my build. I would take out 2 Cynthia's feelings for 1 Mr.Mime and 1 Unown Q

I agree, Nidoqueen is definitely a better attacker and few things disrupt its body. But we are seeing so many full-bench decks out there that messing up the opponent's bench with Dusknoir can really hurt. My son is just a JR too so that does make a difference in the decks that he faces.

If you base the deck more on the Fainting Spell than on the Curse, you may want to consider dropping the Cynthia's for a 1-1 Noctowl Promo line. I don't see the Noctowl in the Researching Tower but it has a Power that once during your turn you can look at your opponent's hand. Basically a free Looker's without shuffling. It can help you decide which attack and even which Gengar to use. If you are more worried about getting the Gengar SF back when it is knocked out, consider increasing the Night Maintenance count or running a few Pokemon Rescue. Since you run the Lv X you basically have an extra Gastly ready to set-up a second Gengar SF,

In my opinion, Spellgar is epic. He can run around causing havoc and heartache for your opponent, he attacks for cheaper, and Fainting Spell makes your opponent think twice about drawing his prize.

I run 2 spellgars and 1 cursegar in mine.

Get your fill of spellgars while you still can IMO, before they chump him off in august.

also, do you find you get your one, lonely warp point when you need it? Or is it never there when you want it?
