Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Gengar Prime Not as Broken as it's Hype says??

If people start Teching in old amber just for Hunter, I'll have a hard time taking it seriously. Besides, isn't it a little risky to have it in the deck at all, since it could be you starter and lose you the game turn 1?

Isn't Unown Q basically in every deck? And, if you don't take it seriously, that's your own fault! ;P

Unown Q and Old Amber give 2 opportunities for a bad start. Besides, it's not like the deck relies on Hunter. I'd just Judge and then take out whatever they happen to draw.

Out of only four cards? That's quite a gamble, too.

Regice is also a terrible start (as is Dragonite FB or Bronzong G, but not so bad) but I see people running them, too. ;P

ok. gengar prime. is a semi decent card. i see it being played a lot. but overwhelmed by decks that actually do damage. the deck can be very disruptive. with cards like hunter and the new spiritomb coming out which makes your opponent shuffle there hand and draw a required 6. pokemon arent going to be hard to find to remove. mew prime may also make this deck alot faster. starting with it removing one gengar prime and using mew. cards like vileplume may make this deck amazing. try playing a game where you have try and keep pokemon out of your hand while not being able to play trainers. its ridiculous.
this deck is going to be played.
i say it has a 45% chance of being playable.
and 55% of being complete garbage.
but i honestly do not know...

by the way most of you guys on pokegym are garb

I still laugh at hunter due to old amber shenanigans.

you are right that a fossil is a nice tech vs hunter, but seriusly how will you grab this 1 trainer!! card from your deck in time? even if you find a way, i just looker it away. or do you think i´m wrong?

gengar prime isn't ran with Vileplume..
its ran quickly..
no trainer lock.
gastly rare candy gengar energy lost zone.
how T1 would in theorymon go down.

and we are garb?

who are you exactly?

It sounds cool, but really it's hard to get stuff out when you have no supporters. How are you going to get that uxie? Lux ball i guess... then you just rely on topdecks and luck, which i do not like to do.

Who said no supporters?

and Speedphan is a great deck.
Run Gengar like Donphan.

With trainer based draw and supporters.

if your saying that i will use hunter T1 you are mistaken.

because most decks will have another pokemon in their hand.

and that's is what Mr. Mime LL is for. :thumb:

4-2-3-1(Lv. X) Gengar
3-1 Uxie
2 Mr. Mime
maybe a Spiritomb from LL to shuffle your opponent hand if they dont have any pokemon in their current hand.

Lv.X goes good with Gengar Prime's second attack and can put a couple pokemon in the lost zone.

and please dont say the stadium will be hard to get. you have 8 ways. more if you play Pokedrawer+.
Twins will be amazing since you never get prizes.

Not so easy to draw into, no, but it's possible.

I'm not sure how you are going to Looker away the fossil since I am going to play it as soon as I draw it... You can't Hunter and Looker in the same turn (that's the whole point of the tech!) so...

only if you play some pokedrawer its possible, without its just tooo lucky and a waste of 1 card.

and, okay you play it down, so? i just Cursed Droplets (Place 4 damage counters on your opponent’s Pokemon in any way you like.) it in one or two turn. you cost me that turn, but you have spend your resorces off getting this out.

it coud be a nice mirror match tech imo (because you have twin and all is about getting 6 pokemons first in the lost zone), but not in other decks with no pokedrawer.

Ah, Old Amber only protects against damage. So it's not a fair exchange. I had assumed it was un-KOable from the Bench.

Fair enough!

how is this difficult at all?

the pokemon line is gonna look something like

4-2-3-1 Gengar X. (2 prime, 1 other)
2-1 Uxie
2 Mr. Mime LL
2 Spiritomb LL
1 unown Q

A typical turn after like T2 or T3 will go like this:

Draw.
Use Mr. Mime's power.
If you have pokemon in hand; cool, I will hunter and pick up an uxie, while lost zoning multiple pokemon.
If you don't have pokemon in hand; cool, I will hunter and pick up spiritomb and make you shuffle and draw 6.

it's really not that difficult to set up, or pull off multiple turns in a row.
it's also only 18 pokemon giving you plenty of room for other techs, or plenty of draw.
I get to abuse twins like no other deck can, I get to abuse Hunter like no other deck can,
and if you feel like discarding all of your pokemon to avoid the lost zoning then so be it, it's ok with me if you discard half of your pokemon lines.

also old amber is a terrible tech against gengar prime.
A) have fun desperately trying to pull that one-of card out of your deck while constantly screwing over your hand to make sure you don't end your turn with a pokemon in it.
b) Cursed droplets is really hard to use right?

when you mention all of these, did you forget that dialga g lvl x shuts everyone of those down?

What what. Wait. What?

He said that?

Gengar Lv.X says hi? Like, a really big hi? With capital letters and bold font like !~HI~!

When you play against Gengar Prime, you're not playing Pokemon Cards and you're certainly not in Kansas anymore.

well theres an old saying. look before you jump. now i take it to always looker's before attacking. in my gengar prime deck i run dittos allowing me to limit thier bench. also remeber you choose the pokemon. sps are dominated by their lv x counterparts. if you can get those in the lost zone youve one. if your opponent has a garchmop c lv x in thier hand one good cast into darkness sends it straight to hell. also i run cheerleader's cheer. mass draw and they draw a card this can help maybe put a pokemon down. also the new supporter hunter can hurt them by returning an important bench itno thier hand to be sent to lost zone. 4 looker's almost insures me that i can get pokemon in thier hand.

Gengar Prime isn't broken IMO. Very good, but not broken.

So many counters to it. T-tar (hits for weakness), Banette PL (discards from hand), Regice (discards from hand), Mismagius PL (lock from using attacks), Honchy G (hits for weakness), and counter stadium (if your opponent plays Lost World quick).

Just throwin out ideas tho!

You could just Judge/Initiative their Lost World all day...

Sablock will love this card. If enough people play it, I see Sablock winning 50%+ of cities. Callin' it right here.

Why would your opponent play lost world when he doesnt win right there?!

And Gengar still has Haunter, Spiritomb, BS Seeker, maybe Palkia, maybe Mew etc and enough stuff to do

Well the new Porygon 2 could be a nice little tech to put in there to get the lost zone when you need it...
but adding that would take to many spaces... Just an idea tho...
