At 8:30 AM my dad went into surgery.

The surgery was scheduled to be a 2 hour surgery. It took around 3.

According to the doctor everything went EXACTLY as planned!!(A little better actually)

They were able to do the whole surgery "Laposcopicially(sp?) " . What that means is it was done with as little cutting and slicing as possible. He is expected to make a full recovery , and should be released on friday - Just in time for FL states :thumb:

Wow, it's good everything went well. Coming out on Friday is a bit lucky ;)

Best news I've heard today Steve! I've been checking back here every hour to see if there were any updates!

Since he is getting out on friday, I'm guessing he will attempt FL states on saturday. Now, if he tries to come to NC for sunday, he better not drive! LOL

Did the Dr say he cut like a 2 dollar steak too?? We all knew he was as tough as one!

Doing the surgery by Lapo is great news. Speeds up the recovery time for everything.

Keith

Great news! Glad to hear it!

Let's see, what can you do during recovery???

Oh, yeah....

PLAYTEST, PLAYTEST, PLAYTEST!

In all seriousness, Pokemon aside, the health news is the best!

Vince

That is EXCELLENT news Steve. I was thinking about him at work today.

One of the first things I asked your dad was if they could do this laproscopically (sp?). It makes a HUGE difference in the recovery time (4 or so small incisions instead of having your whole abdomen sliced open).

Encourage him to take it easy - the worst thing he can do is rush back.

That is great to hear!!! We have been thinking about him every day. Glad to hear surgery went as planned. Make sure he takes it easy and here's to a very speedy recovery. Can't wait to see you guys in the near future!!!

Steve, Thanks for the update and the great news!
The Silvestro family has been in our prayers since your first post. Get well John, we wish you a speedy recovery, and a 1-2 finish at States!
Keith

I just spoke with John, he's recovering and doing well! He will be up and kicking booty and smaking pokemans around in no time! :thumb:
Get well soon Sniper!

So, Sunday I'm relaxing at the house and end up watching a movie with Gary Busey. It was the one with Steven Seagall and the train. I swear everytime I saw Gary, I thought of you, lol.

Get well buddy. Oh, by the way, Arizona has already made plans to take the Masters division at SPR Regionals. Just thought you might like to know.

Well wishes from everyone in Team Cook.

The Sniper is alive!! Like Steve said, my surgery was a 100% success. He took out around 7
inches of my colon( which was in REALLY bad shape perferated and FULL of polups), and sewed the
2 good ends back together. Surprisingly, the rest of my colon looks extremely healthy.And- in
his opinion- he sees NO signs of cancer in my colon! Thank you GOD!

He did go in laproscopically, but from the way my abdomen looks and feels you'd
never know it :( The "main" incision is about 6 inches long and hurts like h-e-double
hockey sticks!!!( even w/ the morphine drip:( Can't even explain the pain-it's that bad.

The 3 smaller incisions really don't feel too bad and should heal quick imho. It's thurs.
and my plan is to be out tomorrow afternoon( with the help of percocets of course ;)

N.C. States doesn't seem very realistic the way i feel right now- but you never know.
But- GOD willing- i should be able to do Florida states Saturday. For that alone, i feel blessed.

AGAIN, to ALL of you who sent me your kind thoughts, prayers and words I can't
say thank you enough!! You all just ROCK! We are the BEST gaming community out
there !And i can't begin to express how much all those kind words meant to me
and Steve. Please keep me in your prayers- all of you.

You guys are the BEST- ALL CLASS- and i'll always be grateful to you :)

Until our paths cross........

GOD bless all of you!
