Here is a fun deck that I use to play against kids that recently started playing Pokemon.
It teaches them things like conditions, evolutions, and the usefulness of trainers.

It also shows that you can make a deck without any rare or expensive cards.

Pokemon

3 Panpour (Collect/Scratch)
3 Pansage (Collect/Scratch)
3 Pansear (Collect/Scratch)
3 Simipour (Scald/Fury Swipes)
3 Simisage (Seed Bomb/Fury Swipes)
3 Simisear (Searing Flames/Flame Blast)

Trainers

1 Pokemon Center
4 Energy Retrieval
2 Great Ball
2 Bianca
4 Pokemon Communication
4 Cheren
4 Professor Juniper
4 Super Rod
2 Bicycle

Energy

5 Grass
5 Fire
5 Water

Strategy: Get a bunch of monkeys out & have fun.
Simisear is the best attacker in this deck, he can easily do 100 damage with three fire energy.
Never had any problems getting basics or evolving them.

Open to suggestions, though the deck is mostly for fun.

I actually wanna give this one a try. I was at league yesterday and we had a new 10 year old who needed a good run down of things. Unfortunately, I only brought my blastoise/black kyurem and plasma klang decks with me. She did seem to see the difference in the ratio of trainers to pokemon and I explained to her things to consider when deck building. She had this mess of Serperior line, Sammurott line, and several other stage 2's, 6 trainers, and 18 energy. I'm sure this one is rather affordable to build as well. I think I'll give this a go.

This is a great idea. Thanks for posting this. I usually play the kids at league with my competition decks, which isn't any fun for them, and doesn't help me improve. Having a deck like this one will not only help them gain familiarity with the game and its mechanics, but also make them feel like they have a fighting shot in games.

Thanks for the compliments!
I kinda like showing the kids how to play.

That other "fun deck" I posted also might work as well.
However that does have some rare cards in it.

for some reason i cant teach the kids at my league to play, i dont like trying to hold back and they dont like losing. this is a good idea for everyone!
