Good Uncommon?

Hey all. I'm working on making a couple of decks from scratch for my League and was looking for a few suggestions. The 2-Player starter set along with a couple theme decks would make fine decks (and I have those), but I wanted something special for anyone who wants to see an original deck when they show up. I have my Garchomp build currently and 2 old Unlimited decks, but I wanted to get something a bit newer in. So, I came looking for advice.

I'm looking for a Stage 1 Uncommon to build a deck around. Ideally, I'd be something I already have in excess (like something from either LA or MD since i have a lot from those sets and they're fairly recent) but it could go back as far as MT (the last set I have a lot of). Try not to pick something from GE as I have next to nothing from that set.

Sorry to be so specific, but I jsut had the idea while I was doing some work today. Anyone have a suggestion?

Starmie LA
Houndoom LA (already said but is actually a reasonable competative deck)

Those are some good ones.

Good Luck

EDIT: Also you can go to pokepedia and from there look under what you want.

Mightyena LA is a rather nice Stage One. It can deal about 80 damage for two energies, provided you have a full bench and two Special Dark Energies on it. It is also a nice counter to basics with no Unown G on them.

Hope I helped! ^^

Lucario LA? its uncommun and can snipe for 1 energy. try it with starmie la.
You could also play mightyena la. its like do the wave.
if you could play some rares/cheap foils, it would be better. so you could play exeguttor la with ray la or evire sw. furthermore a shedinja/ninjask deck would be very funny.

Magneton SF.

The metal one, play 4 special metals and a bunch of stadiums, and you have :colorless :colorless for 20 to active + 20 to two bench.

Houndoom (LA), Breloom (SW)-- well it used to be good with Moonlight Stadium, along with Donphan (SW),
Wormadan (POP 7), or maybe Carnivine (POP 8) with Unown E.....Bibarel could work too, but use the Daimond and Pearl Bidoof to get trainers back in your hand with Scavenge....

Thanks everyone for your advice, and please keep it coming! This gives me a lot of ideas to work on once I start sifting through all ym cards.

I did put together two decks tonight and decided that, since I may be doing a fair bit of teaching tomorrow, I should include cards that teach the following things:

--Turn Play
--Weakness/Resistance
--Difference between Trainers and Supporters
--Minor Synergy
--Poke-Tools

Each deck I made had the same trainers and Energy count as follows:
----------------------

2 Poke Ball
4 Dusk Ball
1 TM-TS1
3 Bebe's Search
3 PokeDex Handy
3 Energy Search
1 Galatic's Wager
2 Prof. Rowan
1 Night Maintenance

10 of main Pokemon's energy
8 of supporter's energy
1 Warp Energy
1 Health Energy
---------------------

The two deck's were as follows:
---------------------

Fire/Fighting:

3 Chatot
1 Stantler
3 Houndour LA
3 Houndoom LA (Main)
3 Starly MD
3 Staravia MD
3 Geodude MT
2 Graveler MT

Water/Lightning:

3 Chatot
4 Pikachu MD
3 Raichu MD (Main)
2 Horsea LA
2 Seadra LA
3 Aipom MD
3 Aipobom MD
---------------------------

Both decks are in standard 20/20/20 builds so new players can set it out and see how to make their own decks if they'd like. I figured this would be a good starting point since this is a ground-up league. I'll post other decks made like this here and please keep suggestions coming. Hopefully this will help other new League leaders get ideas as well for teaching newer players.

Wormadom POP 7.
Solrock.
Lunatone.

All uncommons or commons, and still packs a punch (just terrible in competitive.)

An alternative starter for your 1st deck could be Corsola (POP 7/Secret Wonders)...it's kinda like Pachirisu....
